Game suddenly freezes computer

Same here. I disabled several programs running in the background and it still freezes 1 second after starting battlenet.

Turn down settings? Did they introduce something new like a ray tracing setting?

Updated drivers still dosent work

Thank you for the reminder.

Same exact message I’m getting. Drivers and Windows are all updated… nothing

I was experiencing issues where Bnet launcher kept locking my PC up and forced me to shut it down. However, I just updated my Nvidia RTX 2070 to latest version 452.06. Just loaded up the Bnet launcher now and I didn’t have an issue. Loaded up game and it was working aswell.

You made my day! Thank you for reminding me I do not need launcher to play!!!

OK so I went to Nvidia web site and went to drivers for my RTX 2070 and downloaded and installed driver updates but not the game ready stuff and now launcher works just fine.

452.06 same as everyone else

Okay, im no tech nerd and i don’t know what im doing, but i did reinstall the driver for my 1080ti dated as 8/17/2020 and Bnet did not crash the computer.

This worked for me and now im reinstalling games since i tried a computer reset

Was having this issue as well! Tried everything from updating drivers to reinstalling Bnet, but it BSOD’d my computer every time.

The fix for me was opening up the GeForce Experience and installing the latest drivers (ver. 452.06). Now Bnet is working just fine.

Adding my name to this post; same issues with complete and utter freeze/lockup upon battlenet launching. Forces a complete lockup of my pc requiring a forced shut down and restart (only to have it happen again). GTX 2070, up to date drivers, etc. Blizz - please fix this!

Same issue as above, but 1650ti nvidia card, windows 10 pc, full lock have to hard restart computer, was fine in early morning just started in past few hours.

As others have said here, updating my gpu drivers to 452.06 fixed the issue for me. My card is gtx 1660.

Same issue with windows 10 pc, GTX 1080. Started a few days ago but was sporadic. Now it happens within minutes of starting the game. Launching the game from exe file instead of Bnet launcher prevents the launch freezes, but the game will still eventually freeze and crash from in-game as well. Already have updated drivers and windows.

I even attempted a clean install of windows as originally I thought the issue was on my end.

ok so I had the 2080 series card and I went to Nvidia’s website and updated my driver to the latest version and now the Bnet app no longer causes crashes. Can’t say it works for all other card types but it does for the 2080 in my case.

RTX 2060 updated to 452.06 and im good to go.

As Zubzug just said,

I too have the “NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660” and downloading the 452.06 driver fixed the issue for me.

Simply google “NVIDIA driver 452.06” and it’s the first result. It’ll try to include the GeForce experience in the download. You don’t need it. You only need the driver update. Just un-check it.

to me, i just went into general setting and uncheck hardware altercation and now seem to be working

For anyone saying they fixed it, come back after you’ve been able to play crash free for an hour or longer. I thought I fixed it multiple times but the failure mode keeps appearing.

All has been back to normal for several hours now.
