Starting an hour ago every time I tried to load the launcher the computer froze almost instantly - before I could even click “play”. Only turning the power off and back on got the computer to work again. I then deleted WoW and Battlenet to reinstall but whenever the installation process hits the launcher screen (at the beginning of the installation) the same thing happens.
The game had worked perfectly since I started playing again a month or two ago.
Any ideas?
By edit seems to be the problem described by others in the hotfix thread which I hadn’t read because I had no problems after the hotfix my problem just started this afternoon.

Same issue here, just started today. As soon as Battle.net launches my whole PC freezes and I have to hard reset.

I am also having this issue. Starting this morning opening battle.net launcher results in a BSOD. Have reproduced it many times now. It always seems to get triggered just as the ads in the middle load in.

Reinstalling battle.net launcher does not solve the issue, FYI

I’ve reinstalled battlenet, updated all my drivers, and was about to just try reinstalling windows… im glad to see at least everyone is having the same exact issue and its likely on Blizzard’s end.
Guess its time to be patient

Reinstall? It won’t let me uninstall it. It’s like Launcher of the Living Dead. It just…persists…in a state between Life and Death. Just stumbles and shambles forward, then freezes when it meets a fork in the coding road. Then it stands there, groaning and drooling, looking for another computer to freeze up.
Can someone maybe feed it a brain or something and get it moving again?
(Glad I didn’t uninstall and reinstall the entire bloody game.)

You can still play in the meantime. Just go to the folder for the direct game exe and launch. You’ll have to actually enter your email/pw to login, but it beats waiting around on their end.

Having the same issue. Tried reinstalling, did a security scan for viruses, closed down any other processes I could.
The problem persists. Glad to see I’m not alone.

I uninstalled WoW trying to maybe fix the issue, and now cant reinstall without the launcher. RIP

When I use the launcher for the game it takes me straight back to the app. This solution does not work for me.

Same as Nikia - reinstalling is often recommended before asking for help so I can’t say we did the wrong thing but the result was …imperfectly successful. I also just now reinstalled drivers and I will try once more but with a high level of probability the result will be identical.
You are trying to launch the launcher icon and not the game. Go into the direct game folder and launch the actual game exe. Example: I go program folders ->wow -> classic -> WowClassic application icon
