I have been having trouble describing this issue to people, but it happens when I tend to be in the transmog or warband item menus. The game will freeze up for a moment even though I can move my cursor, then reload all of the rendered things on the screen. Items in the menu, my character, the world, etc. I uploaded a video of it happening since it is so confusing to describe: https://youtu.be/3JRWrbG0urw
Been having the same issue since 11.1.7 dropped. Opening up my appearance tab or going into a cutscene causes the game to freeze and then any add-ons visible are now green blocks. Even crashed saying WoW couldn’t start 3D acceleration. Checked add-ons. Same problem. Updated drivers. Same problem. It’s not doing it every time, but frequently.
Yeah, this only started with the patch. I had literally done no changes, not even video setting changes in quite some time. That patch was the only real change I’ve made at all. Didn’t even update drivers until the issue started. I just can’t figure it out.
Having the same issue, just like Varteras describes it. It helps to /reload in game but it happens again and again. Then it can go for a while with everything normal and then it happens again. Started with 11.1.7…
There seems to be some compatability issue with DX12, nVidia and/or the patch, and it doesn’t affect all nVidia users, I don’t know why. But switching your card from auto detect to your specific card, and switching to DX11 seems to be fixing it for most people having this issue.
having the same issue
as soon as I hit apply in the wow options menu to do this, it happened again
I didn’t get the chance to really test it out much last night but from what I’ve read today this seems to be the running fix for most people.
Yeah apparently it’s not helping a some people, but it was a solution for me and a few others. I don’t know why.
Same here. It only happens while transmoging. The only “fix” I came up with was updating my “Xbox app” which (according the Event Viewer) was giving an error related to this:
“The server Windows.Gaming.GameBar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.”
That led my PC to freeze for a couple of seconds. Followed a guide on reddit on how to fix it and it has not happened since.
EDIT: Doesn’t work
That looks like something triggered a soft GPU crash within the game, forcing a soft restart of the rendering portion of the engine, which means it has to load all the assets again. It’s basically the engine trying to run /console gxrestart before hard crashing.
Seeing a lot of people with issues similar to this and other freezing issues, but it also coincides with Microsoft adding features to things like the game bar (who the hell actually wants game assist enabled by default?). They also had to do some emergency patch the other day because of some update’s interaction with anticheat engines.
Best advice: press Win+G and disable any of the bloat you don’t need. Also, make sure to disable overlays and hardware acceleration in all background apps, including your browser.
Yeah I figured as much. Literally tried to revo uninstall gamebar and get all that crap out of my system but it would then install again on every update, so I guess microsoft wins
Yeah honestly, I wouldn’t even bother trying to uninstall it or mess with registry stuff for it, just disable the features.
Same issue, has caused crashes but usually just freezes for a while and scews up the UI when I go to anything collections. Put in a bug report. Wish they would fix this, its making game unplayable for some people.
Having the same problem. Switched to fullscreen, worked for a while but it’s still messing up.
Edit: Nvm… just now happened stood around in Dornogal… didn’t fix it for me after all sadly.
Did you uninstall gamebar with PowerShell first?

I did!
I was hopeful as after doing it all I didn’t get freeze again for another almost 5 hours, then I got it randomly again.
Thank god I’m not the only one having this issue. This patch has been a bug fest. Was it made by goblins in Sidestreet Sluice?
Alright, it didnt work, youre right xD. Damn it actually worked for a good amount of hours until it happened again.
