True, just look at the comment of both Diablo 4 and OW2.
The hype just isn’t there.
Overwatch 2 killing offtank role will be the greatest mistake they ever make, basically all tank other than the classic Reinhardt will be dead.

Those things listed was basicly just make up, made to cover the problem of how little there is to do in the expansion. You remove all the make up, the game quickly runs out of content. Prior to removing such stop gaps, they would need to implement something else to keep us occupied. They could possibly do something with torghast if people wasn’t already turned off from it. But endless content which anyone can do does have a habit of keeping people engaged. Provided they can make it interesting enough.
the entire problem is what many streamers have made entire videos about- the introduction of the wow token, the shop, the whole pay to play thing. Guess what: it’s not going away. the best you will get is that they do not allow any of that to touch their re-releases of classic, and actually figure out a way to remove bots.
In retail: I don’t mind paying for a rollercoaster ride, and what these people want to do is to feel like they achieved the summit of a mountain with hard earned gear and still call it a game.
Misplaced ideals.
It’s just a game. A carnival ride. You pay for it, so what.
I am totally grateful to buy a wow token, get my gear on the AH and buy potions, and get to run mythic plus and still live a normal life at a job with kids and do everything in between. Tokens enable that, so what.
I agree that it is dying, that it needs to even be remade from the ground up in a lot of ways, but it is unrealistic to think they will remove the need for money from this business. Money will always be king in a business, because money in the blood of the business world and without it, the body of the company shuts down.
We have to deal with it. But we CAN and SHOULD push for a way to keep classic and retail very separate, so that those who want to feel like they climbed a mountain can and will do so and feel that sense of accomplishment. But it will take Blizzard seriously somehow removing all bots, and it will take them seriously removing all pay-to-win schemes from classic.
Then people who just want a fun carnival ride can have fun on the fly, and the serious players can live in classic world untouched by all this retail stuff.
It’s the only solution.
Oh, did OP delete that from his post at the start there, or was he just complaining and wanting others to create the thread for him.
It started as a useless trash thread. May as well add an “I’m leaving and ending my sub.” to it because it adds nothing.
its sad.
i so so so so so want D4 to be a huge success, but im not feeling the passion put into it so far. Plus its lead Dev just getting the boot is a bad sign too.
its all just bad news.
Not sure what you need. Most MMOs are single player games with a chat client attached in 2021. Be happy you have a thing to play with your friends at all. Why do you want a transient e-society attached to it?
You seen the latest patches they did for PoE. The community reaction? PoE killing itself is a pretty good possibility. They did so many boneheaded moves in 3.15. I say this as a major PoE fan. Just over 13k hours in the game after switching from standalone client to steam client. unable to say how many hours prior to that point.
The game is not bad. inhale
Why are people leaving? inhale
Idiots are just jumping on bandwagons for their dumb agenda. inhale
I disagree because there’s no content to begin with.
Fair point. Just means their stop gaps didn’t do good enough job.
Did you really think they listen to player feedback ?
At this point, IDK if there’s anything they can do to save this expansion outside of a huge content overhaul patch.
But these additions will be nice if/when the game is decent to play again.
Yeah, honestly only thing they can do is do what they did with WoD. Scrap it and push to the next expansion ASAP. Although I imagine they don’t want to announce the next expansion during the PR nightmare they are currently having.
They need to bring the WoTLK and MoP style expansions back it was one of WoW’s best kinds.
WoTLK was very immersive had a ton of story. Arthas felt like a real bad guy that needed to be stopped not some clown wanna be like the Jailor.
I can’t say I disagree, I just think they ran out of good bad guys. They need to do another RTS game to introduce new lore to the game they can pick off of or something. Clearly creating new lore within WoW isn’t working.
Now when you say community, do you mean the people who actually played with the league and adjusted fairly quickly to the admittedly stupid decisions they made with things like flasks (which they dialed back after the first week by the way).
Or
You mean the redditors who notoriously complain about literally every single league mechanic being terrible? They complain that Synthesis required too much planning and execution to be rewarded, they want to just kill. Then you get Legion which they hate because it’s boring because all you do is kill mobs and they want some extra element to it. Then you get Blight which is killing things, with a small tower defense minigame attached and they’re crying that it’s too vague about what you’re doing. Hell the same exact muppets cried crafting is too hard, then that Harvest trivialized it and took all the fun out of crafting.
Yeah sorry, PoE Redditors are some of the stupidest people to walk the face of the planet. Basing game health on their reactions is a foolish endeavor. They cried currency was too hard to get. Heist literally prints fat stacks of currency. “MY ECONOMY IS RUINED!”
I’ll agree they were too heavy handed and should have gradually done these changes before PoE 2. Though in fairness the changes were necessary and for the better. They (aside from the initial flask changes) should put them all in and just go slowly about it. The fact it was all mana reservation changes, flask changes, mobility changes in one single instant made it appear a lot worse than it was.
Id say for ppl who don’t like this expansion- the train has already left the station no amount of feedback is gonna massively change anything . Just save your Dollars and play another game and hope for the best for the next one.
Meta slaves always complain but still play regardless , so you can ignore them .
Blizzard will be going through a massive transition period over the coming time. Including mass lay-offs and even a company name change. Lets hope they listen to the community.
All things considered, I don’t look at blizzard like the old blizzard-north crew. Most of those developers moved on to other studios and projects. Lets hope the new reformed studio is just as good as what they were and put another 10 years into world of warcraft or even better, not to milk it and introduce a sequel.
I agree with not milking it, but I would be down for a sequel. WoW could use a facelift some of which can’t be done using the backbones of the current game.
I don’t think it will be, and not because of Blizzard but because of the climate. Game development has become increasingly corporatized which means that instead of gaming being a niche hobby that was expanded by fans who wanted to show their visions to the genre, it’s now a bunch of suits wanting whatever gets money with as little investment as possible.
The minute Candy Crush exploded onto the market it was basically all over. Every company that dabbled in games was salivating over how such a simple and budget built game raked in so much money and wanted a piece of that pie.
You’re going to need an industry overhaul before Blizzard itself is going to be good. Or find one of the few companies remaining that put their fans first like Grinding Gear Games.
