Game is legit dying

Blizz listens you guys are always wrong. Facts.

Subs have been dwindling since Shadowlands released. I can’t say that I blame anyone as I have thought about unsubbing a lot too. This expansion has been nothing but HELL. The Maw. Torghast. The painful hellscape waiting for 9.1 while Blizz sank everything into getting TBC to launch. The fact is subs were dwindling before Activision got tangled into a lawsuit, but many are citing that as the cause for the game dying. Cause and correlation are not the same though. For those bailing on WoW because they think it’s cool, others of us have loyalty with nearly 2 decades invested in this game. We aren’t going to bail on one expansion, nor will we bail for one lawsuit just to go reroll in ‘that other game’ with poor graphics and bad story line. WoW has gone through this before, and many said it was the end back then, too. But the game rebounded and subs went back up. The game will survive this too. Face it, zoomers… WoW is an institution, not flavor of the day.

All of this is based off a highly questionable reddit post that anyone with any bit of knowledge (including you and me) could have made up?

The line about including content about shared values is a bit disconcerting. If I start seeing a rainbow flag flying over Org or a demented ancient orc wandering around Org eating ice cream, I’m done with Blizzard completely.

At this point I have not a clue. I cannot tell whats made up and whats not anymore. I do know that WoW is reaching the end of its life. It might have a couple more years yet. I’m not going to invest anymore of my time and money on a dying game.

It is rather difficult to pick out truth from a ocean of lies. One day people are saying WoW is dying now and won’t last a year while others say it is fine.

At this point i’m rather done with this game. I’m actually trying to find what else is on the MMO game list.

WoW is dying i’m no longer going to invest in it. It’s time to cut it off my list of MMO’s to play. :scissors:

I completely understand, and I am no WoW shill. I have plenty of complaints about the game.

I think there certainly is evidence to show it is declining. While WoW does not release subscriber numbers, there are other tracked metrics that have shown a significant decline in participation. It’s why WoW is miraculously listening with 9.1.5, although if they listened sooner they wouldn’t have as sharp of a decline.

9.1.5 is because they got scared not that they are listening but because the lawsuits and lack of content and lack of listening. They got scared and decided to push 9.1.5.

Not cause they care but because they are scared and afraid of another lawsuit or another mass subscription drop %.

9.1.5 is not really for the players its a action for themselves to save themselves from being shut down I think.

I do not think the game is dying at all but it needs to be renewed by updating the graphics and polygons from the older expansions. The game has proven to be an evergreen system but it also needs to be maintained regularly. Every single update should actually bring some updates models… and not just the first expansion patches.

Dying? It’s already DEAD

They’re trying to defibrillate a corpse.

I mean I was unhappy with retail (legendaries and torhgast were a little too ridiculous for my taste) … I just went ahead and started playing TBC Classic. I’ve never been so satisfied playing I don’t think ever. But yeah, retail needs work, a lot, certainly a patch won’t fix all or close to any of the amount of problems.

Updating Graphics would be very hard to do on a 17 year old game.

They would need to install a new engine for the graphics they can’t use the old if they want to overhaul it.

I don’t think it would be this hard. They just need to replace the current polygon models with newer ones, including textures. They do this regularly with animals as well.

And people can’t expect them to de-spaghettify all that code in under 6 months.

It would take probably and entire expansion to roll out a shining new graphics update that make the game feel more alive.

Again they would need a new graphics engine to handle the new graphics overhaul.

It’s kinda like asking Minecraft to look as pretty as Skyrim or some other insert other graphic pretty game here. Can’t happen overnight.

I wish they changed alot of the features of the game. Glad that now ppl using PVP gear wont get womped on. I feel that the content is cool that it scales but there is such a huge time and effort to get a player from lvl 60 130ilvl to 240 ilvl. Condits are callenging to get to max lvl and make a signifancat impact. Gear alone is not enough. They sould make a system that rewards people willing to spend months getting gear but allows people the opertunity to be able to do content. I get in to random groups and someone sucks at dps dispite doing the correct mech. I can not do keys with these people to get the gear. I have to slave myself in Korthia. I really wish that gear was not so drastically important in the game. You press the keys but one person can do 1.5 DPS and the other is doing 5k. I guess getting to max lvl used to mean something. Now its just like welp glad you finally made it now play for another 2 months so you can join the mythic raid that your guild cant do until you have 25 players. I wisht that item lvls were closeer to the actual lvl. In TBC a LVL 70 could find a good ilvl 115. Why did they go with a new system that 60 needs to be 240. I get that people would max out quicker and they wanted to have ppl work for a while to it. I guess its just dumb that you would would expect ppl to do keys all week so that they can have good gear.

a new batleground would of been a nice addition

Honestly, the reason the game is not progressing is in the hand of the nut who runs that nuthouse. BFA was all over the place. Legion sucked till way into patches and got better? Shadowland seems- to focus on raiding. for now. It’s like watching a circus on fire.

Then added that the game stubbornly refuses to do things and when they do they use a comet instead of a hammer. Is making the game unappealing to the younger generation. Who just wants to play a game that follows a straight path. Not this stock market rollercoaster that has been going on WOD. Stop listing to the crazy guy and stick with what works and not stick with what is popular now.

Please focus on what this game really is- a RPG. A reminder of RPG’s is that it is “fan based”. We need not to forget this. Just as I was playing poker, siting around the table, there are rules. You do not act outside of these game rules. You have rules that you are not only do not act outside of, but you are also responsible for the future and legacy of RPG’s.

In RPG contributing is vital, it has been for all RPG’s since the Dawn of Gygax ( RIP). We need more players like you! Thxs-

I feel this game is dead already. But people don’t realize it yet.
