Game dead until Ranked flex added

I mean we “the PVP Community” are an afterthought, so to get people on board from the other side - why would anyone play a higher level raid or more challenge? That push and grind is almost essential to an RPG.

WoW in a nutshell is a rat race, we can’t just get cheese the moment we log on.

i’d wonder what motivated this bizarre personal assumption but it’s too incoherent to hold up next to anything else. wild

that’s exactly what we’re talking about though, that they could. arena pvp could be that if it wasn’t actively hostile to the idea

the gameplay in wow is greater than the sum of its rpg elements though. there’s no reason at all to pretend that the game is only an rpg

The best part of WoW is the RPG elements and the smoothness of the UI and combat. Without the RPG elements it would just be like any other game out there - it’s unique and keeps its characteristics as a MMO RPG that was the most successful of all time.

RPG elements are so important for this game, we’ve moved so far away and put so little effort in the hidden stuff these days I don’t even bother watching the campaign stuff.

Quests should have evolved to be more fun more experience and less kill x things. Like that shouldn’t exist in 2022.

i see no reason for the one to require the other. the latter i agree with, but i don’t think it should pretend at the former; this game is an awful rpg and has been for more than 10 years.

it would still have

maybe you’re just trolling. it doesn’t seem possible that you could admit that the game feel is smooth in a unique way but insist that that’s a consequence of things that have absolutely no relationship to them.

rpg elements are so important for this game that you have 4 geared characters you still bother to play in the extreme absence of those rpg elements?

are you 12?

There is a reason why League has continued to grow in player count and wow has continued to fall. Modern games have immediate competition available, why would anyone play wow when it requires a full-time commitment and 60 hours of grinding to get into your first game?

No, there is not a comparable arena PvP game available that is as polished, and it has nothing to do with RPG elements.

I swear, you people will white knuckle clutch your RPG elements like pearls as the titanic sinks around you. The game is dying man, and it is because of your preferred barriers to entry.

The game isn’t dead because of the barrier LOL - just que up for a week and you’ll gear and learn your new alt before getting to 2100.

The game is dead because they don’t offer reasonable changes to the absurd stuff each season.

It’s also summer a time where we been inside for Covid for 2 years and it’s time to not no life wow every single day and get fit and tan.

kinda toxic

Yeah, imagine how dead league would be if you had to buy runes every season.

Worded that poorly. Game structured in such a way to appeal to solo players as opposed to, say, hots, where there’s more emphasis on team play. In league everybody eventually “gets a turn” to have fun if that makes sense.

In hots exp was spread across team.

In wow gear is gated behind rating.

Basically the “little guy” never gets a go.

Firstly, google “World of Warcraft estimated subscribers from 2015 to 2030”

Secondly, I made this forum post after trying to find an RBG for 30 minutes and it disbands immediately, because I can’t even queue into 0 cr 3s as affliction until I have gear or i’m grieving my allies.

My UNRATED SOLO FLEX queue time is 10 minutes in a game that’s THRIVING, and that’s to form a lobby with a 40% gear difference between players. I could go play a game like quake with 150 remaining users and queues would pop faster.

In fact, you’d be jumping straight into 2000 ELO duels. In SC2, if you follow a build order you can get to diamond for -actual games- in as short as a month. In WoW it’s 30 minute queues to play iron level ranked.

Imagine thinking WoW is dying because of the gearing gap. It’s just an old game with no more tricks and no massive rehauls to the systems for modern time. People lost the rose tinted glasses and just constantly REEEEeee out of their minds.

this is so sad. unironically this is an example of how important reading is as a developmental skill; kids without any help conversing in the written word, no understanding others no expressing themselves, become this kind of person who nakedly just changes the subject whenever the crap they’ve been saying runs up against the brick wall of obvious truth

I think that it’s a contributing factor. Queuing up and getting snapped in half instantly after floating around in LFG for a half hour then having your healer leave you isn’t fun.

There’s no easy/chill access for most people, so they float around suffering at a gear disadavantage before going back to their usual games.

Yep, it was a good modern decision.

there’s no shot you think SL gearing hasn’t impacted participation

it’s literally never been worse for casual pvpers
and casual pvpers make up the vast majority of the pvp population

The removal of runes did wonders for competitive integrity, I’m very happy they did that.

“just que up for a week” man you are so blind to your own words. People don’t want to be underpowered and getting stomped for a week. They want balanced competition where they feel like they have a chance to win. I am not talking about current addicts. I’m talking about new blood, the people who would make the game return to relevance.

You say this as if League doesn’t currently have millions of people online, what kind of argument is that LOL

Skoosh must be the most toxic poster in the PVP community. He just keeps yapping like a Lawyer who wants you to freak out and say something to contradict yourself.

I dunno you do you Skoosh but I will agree to disagree with your ideas.

i’m talking about you at this point much more than to you. do whatever you want, illiterate

Yeah, this is what’s frying me. I GUESS they had HOPED to push unranked players into ranked but as we know most of them just kind of…quit. And they haven’t backpedaled on their decision.

There truly is no “light at the end of the tunnel” if you just wanna casually do random bgs.

I can read clearly and I can also articulate my ideas quite well thank you. I do worry for someone who constantly attacks versus friendly banters.

My friend plays about 300 games a season about 10 -20 games a week. We still get him glad and he is the most casual chill guy ever. He hops on laughs has a good time and then goes on with his life.

I dunno I feel alot of rated people just don’t give lowbies a chance anymore and the CR + Spec + Comp Toxicity of WoW has blown up over the years. You don’t have a shot being new or playing non FOTM often as people only care about CR these days.

Gearing situation being fair in Dragonflight excites me, but the community needs to grow up and actually treat people better.

LFG in a nutshell tbh
