Gallywix caught selling runs for real money

“that were associated with this group and taking part in the real money trading transactions.”

If they weren’t part of the group selling carries for real world cash, they shouldn’t have anything to worry about. They are not going after people for doing what they said was acceptable, they are going after those that took it clearly beyond what is allowed.

I’d rather have that than every minute or two “WTS carry”. It’s spam at this point, that’s the issue. Not using it to “trade”. The fact it’s like 3-4 people spamming the same paragraph every minute or two drowns out everything else going on.

Why are they shutting down entirely, then? Twitter, Discord, website, all scrubbed.

As the full saying goes, “A few bad apples spoil the bunch.”

literally won’t… if they only got paid in gold and knew nothing about the RMT… he’s fine… if they were to ban the boosters in gallywix… they’d literally be banning thousands of the games top players… not a good plan…

You do understand that Blizzard can’t actually do ANY of that themselves? What do you think they have moderation permissions on twitter and discord now and they can magically delete websites? Those were taken down by Gallywix themselves.

Precisely.

IRS…?

So use badboy lol?

I’ve figured it out. Clearly they’re doing this to get rid of the Gallywix name after they wrote that terrible character out of the story.

Oh man I hadn’t even thought of that, with the amounts of cash likely involved the taxes probably aren’t anything to sneeze at, and I doubt they’ve been paid.

its legal to sell services for ingame gold. youre just not supposed to use the lfg system to advertise it - don’t think you should stress out at all.

we sell aotc for gold without issues.

The sellers are talking about it now on Asmongolds stream interview

Did they already delete there twitter account and home page?

I had thought the Gallywix community was reputable, being recommended by the perky pugs community. But RMT? That’s pretty shady.

If that’s true, then they deserve to be shut down. That’s really all I can say.

It was only EU player that did it… NA had nothing to do with it. They plan on making a new community.

Then why does Blizzard specifically name North America in its post?

“we’ve begun taking action and have banned accounts in North America and Europe that were associated with this group and taking part in the real money trading transactions.”

Khrude think gold runs just used to sell gold for real money later. They just hide better.

Gallywix spammed every trade chat on every server, I hope they don’t reform after this ban. Although some may have found community within gallywix, I feel these types of groups are toxic to the game. This is a fantasy game into which players escape and find joy. May Azeroth be free from the real life issues, real life dollars, and real life dramas. Forever and ever.

What happened almost certainly wasn’t happening at the retail level. Carry sellers weren’t converting legit gold carries to RMT carries. It’s the organization itself conveting its gold flow into real money to the benefit of the "owners’ of the community.

If Gallywix were WalMart, this wouldn’t be a clerk in the electronics department swiping smartphones and selling them on the street. This is the executives diverting corporate profits into mob money laundering.

It is a bummer that the Gallywix Community got caught up in the selling runs for cash scheme. Seemed like they had a good thing going and there are probably a bunch of legit gold carriers who ended up being banned because someone within the community got greedy.
