Fyr'alath, the Dream Render

Maybe it’s just me, but I find it inappropriate that items like Fyr’alath, the Dream Render, the legendary ax from the new raid, is unobtainable until some sponsored guild that is seemingly paid-to-play, beats the final boss of the new raid.

I don’t know them, I don’t necessarily care about the race. But I also don’t like to be denied access to something because Blizzard is locking a coveted item behind the success of .0000001% of the players (not an accurate number but I’m sure it’s close).

Most of us don’t have the circumstances to play like that. Many of us don’t want to. But we all pay one of the few subscriptions available. Do they pay more, hence the better treatment?

They already get world first bragging rights. Give them the thing that starts the ax as a one time only, 100% drop chance. But for those of us who are equally enjoying the game, give us the drop chance we should have.

What if none of them can beat Fyrrak until major nerfs; do the rest of us have to wait?

I pay the sub fee for 1) entertainment, 2) customer service, 3) hotfixes, 4) more content, and more. I don’t pay the fee to wait for other players, who (might) pay the same fee, to accomplish something that I can’t do.

I don’t recall seeing any agreement or disclaimer that says “certain aspects of the game are locked behind the success of the world’s top players”. I don’t want anything free, I want my drop chance just like every player should have.

We are not going for CE, but we may get it. It’s not part of the plan. We got normal done easy, and outside of the holiday interruption, we will have more prog on heroic, getting AotC with some mythic prog in good time.

The new legendary is likely going to be similar to the previous one. The minimum requirement to start it, unless it’s a drop, is to kill Fyrrak. We’ve done that. Many of us have by now. The world first requirement needs to go. They already get whatever they get. The rest of us aren’t affected by that, or we shouldn’t be.

I was into the race until I realized that I have 0% chance at the new ax until they win. So instead of cheering them on, I’m like “hurry up already. No sleep for you!”

Remember that annoying Highmountain quest where you help the elderly Tauren grandmother from her home to her family while the whole town is under attack? That’s what this feels like. The ax is in the destination. We beat Fyrrak but turn around and we ran too far ahead of grandma. So while we can get to the end, we have 0% progression towards the ax because grandma (whichever top build) is still on the rope bridge not avoiding the giant birds attacking her.

No disrespect to any guild or any player. The boss is hard sure. But we shouldn’t have to wait for them to meet their goal first before we can even start to go towards ours.

Maybe I don’t want to wait for to tell me the steps of getting the ax. Maybe I want to loot it and figure it out as I go? Why do the rest of us have to wait for to tell us how to do things?

If I repeated myself, I apologize. I’m autistic and tend to do that when making sure my point is clear. No shade against anyone, it’s just ridiculous that the majority of the player base depends on the success of . I had to waste gold/mats on a weapon I’ve no intention in keeping. I know my BiS for this expansion. I’m saving up for that.

Happy TG if you celebrate.

sad to say but yeah locking the legendary till we get a world first winner is kinda annoying, worse they’re only seeming to of done that this expac as they just made the legendary have a terrible drop chance last expac. I’d of preferred the new axe to be like how they did Shadowmourne, you pick the job up in the raid’s entrance lobby, you collect materials and kill two of the bosses to start the process, you slowly build the weapon with multiple runs of the raid till you complete it, then you use it to decapitate the end boss and get special loot for doing so. Sadly…they quit that road a long time ago and now it’s like they’re trying to make WoW an Esport and failing forcing everyone to wait till the Mythic guilds finish the raid. Even after they do the drop rate for the item will most likely be garbage outside of mythic… I’m hoping they don’t repeat this going forward as it is like giving the playerbase the finger. Forcing everyone to wait for the paid try hards with their fancy mods to beat a raid so everyone can start getting the new legendary. This one going to spam chat all over the world every 5 minutes too?

this is 100% it, it was a might long post but in sum, if liquid or who ever is in this “world first” which mind you i still find dumb the whole concept of world first but whatever.

But if these top guilds don’t get the axe first, what was the point? These teams have blizzard gm’s are there CALL for any adjustments, tunings or rapid fix bugs for these fights, once it dies they will get the first axe for that MASSIVE ego stroke, they will all go rave together and us lesser players will nod and clap.

P.S easy to be in a world first guild when blizzard and sponsors pay the bill, let wow die and any of these dudes have to get a job LOL they will all end up at burger king folding the paper that goes on your whopper.

I just hope they nerf it in PvP when it does actually become avaliable.

I don’t like the idea of some guy with a legendary clean-sweeping battlegrounds and arenas because he got lucky in PvE.

They have a track record of allowing that sort of thing to happen, and it franky sucks for PvPers that don’t do both PvP and PvE.

Lets be honest with ourselves here. The average player wasn’t getting it before RWF concludes regardless.

If it didn’t work like it currently does, it’d be designed completely differently, possibly in a Shadowmourne style questline.

And since it works like it currently does, the nature of the drop rate and how it works means that the “progress” you’ve lost towards the axe is minimal. You’ve killed him twice on Normal, so you’d have two shots at the second lowest drop-rate to get it.

I’m no professional gambler, but those are odds I would not bet on.

I think the idea that it will only drop once the raid has been beaten on mythic is fine. It would make it a whole lot less special if the first one came from LFR or something. The fact that the top guilds who will most certainly beat it first are sponsored or do it professionally is pretty incidental really. The mythic raid is right there for anyone to engage with. Some random guild could always come from behind and take world first if they want.

You know that’s NEVER going to happen. It is possible for me to wake up in the surface of the moon tomorrow, but it’s likely not going to happen.

locking legendaries behind world first i mean

why?

what do they get for locking 99.999% of players out of the legendary until liquid gets fyraak?

The point wasn’t, “Hey anything is possible.” The point is that the guilds most likely to take world first won’t be doing so because they have sponsors. They have sponsors because they are really damn good at the game. Without the sponsors they are still really damn good at the game.

What they get is RNG not interfering with the RWF race. I mean one guild getting lucky and finding it and giving them a leg up through nothing but pure luck while the rest have to make do without.

That actually sounds like a lot of fun. Let’s hope he goes after those annoying hunters

Does anyone actually watch it?

I honestly don’t even know anyone who raids anymore. It’s all M+

Ok instead you get shadowmourne which spans weeks and has to be done in The hardest content

Would you still get it even then?

What is this complaint even?

Blizz at least lets it drop in other difficulties now so its more accessible.

If one guild was to get it before another, it would give them an unfair advantage in the race.

marketing team: GREAT IDEA!

Agree with OP!

Don’t think it’s about getting it, I think it’s more about getting that bad luck protection rolling.

This will probably be another 5-month season, so having to wait 2-3 months for the bad luck protection to stack up before getting a weapon, which you’ll use for a few weeks until the expansion is essentially over, doesn’t feel great.

And then next expansion you’ll replace it the first week with some blue from a heroic dungeon.

maybe if their parents sponsor them to play from the basement and bring them meals instead😂

I could not care less about the Race to World First/The Basement Olympics and I’m honestly tired of hearing about it.

Having drops, or anything really, tied to that is ridiculous.
