Fury incarnate - cinematic analysis

The Incarnates think that brainwashing their children to keep the Void out is a bad excuse due to not knowing just how dangerous the Void actually is.

Vyranoth is only just now realizing just how dangerous the Void actually is and how favorable Order Magic is.

Blizzard did say that we will be introduced to a new Dragonflight so it seems Vyranoth will be that Dragonflight’s Aspect.

THIS. When Iridikron left with the artifact in the previous patch I realized it’s still the vague “wait and see” type of storytelling that Shadowlands had and now I’m fed up. What is the artifact and its purpose? Wait and see. Where did Iridikron go and what is he going to do? Wait and see!

Now the story is moving at a glacial pace and the breadcrumbs we’re getting aren’t enough to keep me interested. I haven’t played at all this month and the only thing that’s encouraging me to get on tomorrow is to get Trader’s Post loot I’ve frozen and freeze another item for me to get next month. I don’t dislike this expansion but there’s so much about it that’s bland.

I think it’s clear that both of them know something’s wrong with Fyrakk. Vyranoth sees how far he’s losing control (“Let me in” sounds less like Fyrakk wanting to reach the tree and more like the Void wanting to spread its influence). That she was willing to attack him is telling.

I think even Fyrakk himself realizes something’s wrong with him. Note how he stops his attack and Vyranoth’s words and abandons his plan. He realizes that by attacking her, even he has crossed a line and wonders why he’d do that.

Side note: Fyrakk would be able to beat Vyranoth without Shadowflame anyway, because he’s fire and she’s ice. It’s elemental scissors-paper-rock.

Given the justified poor reception of BfA and Shadowlands, Blizzard wanted to step back from cosmic threats to something more down to earth. I’m not saying you’re wrong about the Primalists being low on the threat scale, I’m saying it was deliberate. Your idea about the World Tree power is a good one. On that note, do you think Fyrakk’s pursuit of it is based on his plans with his siblings against the Titans OR the influence of the Void?

By the way, while I’ve said this almost ad nauseum on the forums, it bears repeating. This is one of the reasons I’ve argued against a “Light bad” expansion. As you’ve said, “…we canonically kill not one but TWO Old gods in BFA, just got done murdering literal Satan Mr. Clean in hell, and defeat an undying Legion of Demons and a Titan and several Titan Keepers in Legion”. Compared to that we’ve got barely enough Light worshippers to threaten one world led by a Naaru whose MU counterpart got a one-hit jobbing death by a blind fel junkie. Hardly an expansion-level threat, let alone a cosmic one for a cosmic force supposed to be the Void’s archenemy and opposite.

Dragonflight is more interesting than Shadowlands and I care more for the characters here, but that’s faint praise.

Dragonflight os boring and bland.

It’s not a real filler episode until we either go to the beach or hit the hot springs.

There’s a handful of quests around a hot spring in Onh’ara Plains.

I really hope this is true. From what we know of Vyranoth, she’s a grieving mother who was forced to watch her children be turned into monstrosities in her eyes by titan keepers and her best friend who promised to protect her did not. So her desire for vengeance is entirely reasonable. But she isn’t consumed by it the way Razageth was. I guess being asleep for your imprisonment rather than awake the whole time does make a difference. She has such an influence on Alexstrasza that Alex will admit things out loud to her that she would never admit to others. Most recently, that in the beginning she failed her she failed dragonkind by submitting to the titans and that she will never make that mistake again. And Vyranoth who knows her so well she’s always able to tell when she’s lying believes her. Alexstraza needs an aspect like that on her council to keep her in balance.

:smirk: Even the devs are pretending Shadowlands doesn’t exist – For new character introductions & story progressions :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
