i’ve just finished these quests on a new character, and they don’t seem to do any more damage than any of the other mobs?
I can also confirm the issue, which applies to melee characters only. What happens is NOT the damage dealing of the thistlefurs, but the fact that the damage you dish out reflects back on you. For example, my lvl 50 rogue takes 1700 damage when attacking a thistlefur, which happens to be exactly the health amount of that mob.
When I ran through it with my balance druid, there was no issue. Also, when I throw daggers with my rogue, no problem either - or when I use evasion.
Conclusively it’s a bug, not a “revamp” of the mobs.
these guys have all sorts of buffs…
the Thistlefur buff causes damage to melee attackers… nothing to do with them reflecting damage.
they also have Vengeance and Bloodlust, they heal, they have totems…
lots of variables, but they don’t seem to hit any harder than any other mob.
These Thistlefurs are seriously strong. Much stronger than i think was intended, and it should be looked at. Rn as a lvl 60 orc warrior, i have not seen so many creatures to take me down 1 on 1. But these things can, and god forbid 2 attack you. I hope blizzard can look at this; however, they are really deep into projects and they still haven’t fixed this so i do not know. Btw. my quest is " Between a Rock and Thistlefur "
It’s amazing that almost TWO YEARS later and this hasn’t been fixed. I am questing in Ashenvale right now and these Thistlefurs are $%#@!%$#@ ridiculous. Fix this!!!
This is quite ridiculous. I get like 3 shot by the furbolgs
nearly 2 years later still not fixed, I looked at logs because i didnt see this post until now… They seem to be triple hitting me in one hit… Might of been lag but the shaman died and somehow i got hit 3 times then died right afterwards.
Still an issue Blizz, please fix.
people still think this is a bug?
enable enemy buffs on your UI.
read the tooltips of their buffs.
A bug or not, the design of these mobs are dungeon/raid-level it requires you teaming up with other ranged classes or a healer to finish this questline…which is ridiculous. You simply CANNOT be a melee physical damage dealer and survive more than one of them at a time. Questing shouldn’t force you to look for party…it should be an enjoyable way to get to know the lore of the map as you level up. You look for party when you want to do something that’s high-risk-high-reward. So yes this is still an issue that have been ignored. Simply a bad design of these mobs that’s need to be adjusted especially on lower population realms.
rubbish.
i took my little warrior through there to find out what people were complaining about.
they are not even remotely “raid level”.
pay attention to their buffs, kill the totems, stop their heals.
i know people just want to blindly whack their way through everything, but surely it doesn’t hurt to have a couple of quests which require people to think and plan and use their toolkit?
Yep. I agree with the, hmmm…counts…wow, 24 of you who are frustrated on this issue. I use all my character abilities and don’t expect to be able to easily kill all mobs, but this is just bad design–they need to either remove this “hits you for the same amount of damage you hit for” feature or tone it down.
These quests should be soloable by all classes, but they’re not. (As it currently is, I avoid doing any quests involving the Thistlefurs on melee characters.)
Have you done the escort quest that spawns 3 at a time? Because that is damn near impossible especially as a rogue.
Feb 9 2021 and this is STILL an issue. @Blizzard @moderator please take notice lol. I just submitted an in-game “suggestion” and then googled to see if it was just me and low and behold it is definitely not. As a rogue the melee furbolgs are 100 to 25% me 1v1 and the casters are 100 to 50% 1v1. A quest to kill 15 should not be taking me 15 minutes lol. Please fix! =)
Boosting this, because it is in fact still an issue. I’m getting by, but not NEARLY as easy as the rest of the zone.
May 21st 2021 ashenvale furbolgs still deadliest mob on kalimdor, pet dies fighting each one as a level 48 hunter
Checking in, Aug 8 2021, Still an absolute pain to solo these guys as melee. Hope someone comes by to help. Trying to finish this area for loremaster achievement, but wanting to do so as a result of leveling a character. I am tempted to bring my higher level character down to blaze through these quests and not worry about it.
Keeping the thread going as Blizz still need to check into this issue. Still a pain to do, if your a melee class against these enemies.
This is still a pretty serious problem. The Furbolg quests completely ruin the momentum of the questlines forcing you to pick one off, drink potions and eat food, then repeat for like an hour.
Confirmed as still bugged as of 20th July 2022. These guys hit like a truck and are almost impossible to solo with my Assassination rogue.
