Do you think its scummy to join a ToGC or even a regular ToC group with full pvp deadly gear? Asking for a friend.
Hmm… Sort of yeah. I’m kind of in the same boat on an alt (priest); I think it’s worth going for the T7 set from Ulduar, but for a regular group, idk… are you full PVP gemmed/enchanted/specc’ed, too or do you have PVE gems/enchants/spec in PVP gear?
The big issue I see for say disc priest (which is where I’m coming from) is that I’ll OOM pretty quick, but the bubbles will still be useful, so I think ToC is fine, but ToGC is kind of pushing it, especially if the group isn’t already one-shotting Anub - though to be fair, perhaps having an undergeared healer for phase 3 isn’t the worst thing in the world there…

If you have let the lead know and he invited you no it’s not at all.
If you try to hide it that ya it is. People are going to assume you have put a min amount of effort into preparing for a raid and norm this means getting a set gs requirement set by the lead norm this is super high but that is there right and not the topic. Comming without that or trying to sneak in is scummy. As that requirement is norm that gs in pve gear being in pvp gear is the same as cutting it down by about 500. If your that much over there requirement the lead will prob take you even in pvp gear just be up front about it.
Why would it be scummy? If the raid leader has a 4500GS requirement and my PVP gear is 4630GS, I’m meeting that requirement.
PVP gear isn’t optimized for PVE (duh) but it really only matters for tanks. Trying to tank the current raid tier with the current tier’s PVP gear is not a good idea.
Tanking in PVP gear as a Feral Druid in TBC was just fine for normals, heroics, and T4 raids.
Its only scummy if you’re lying. Classic players sometimes treat this game like its M+ retail content. Its not. Virtually everything in classic is extremely easy and can be cleared with many under geared players. We used to do this on DSL connections, running at 12 fps with bad specs and unoptimized itemization.

Really depends on your class/role. The only ones that would be majorly affected are non bear tanks and heals. For the regular DPS it’s not optimal but it is viable.

I mean what kind of group? If it’s a GDKP ready to carry you and you going to be shelling out gold for upgrades sure.
If it’s a group that expects you to be pulling your own weight yeah that’s pretty scummy.
First of all deadly gear item level is on par with naxx 25 gear so way behind the buffed ulduar25 items the raid will expect you to have, and then the stat distribution on pvp gear is absolutely aweful for pve. Assuming you’re a damage dealer you’re trading away alot of dps stats (and it is a similar story for tanks and healers) for stamina and resilience more over pvp gear severely lacks hit rating…

I say this as a pvper that barely raids: it’s actually pretty easy to hit ~4900 gs right now without any pvp gear. There is a ton of nice crafted/boe stuff that is 232 or better. My alt is 4950 with 3 uld items. The ahune cloak is nice too
As for your original question, if you are upfront about your situation I think you can get in 10 or normal 25 pretty easily. unless you’re the main tank or something
If they know its not scummy.
If they dont know then it is because you are trying to get around a playerbase requirement in order to get into content you really shouldnt be in.

Upfront its pvp gear I don’t see an issue.
Its kind of a situation blizzard created with raid gear BIS in pvp. Okay…the pvp’er is going to run raid. Most likely in some/all pvp gear.
Its a 2 way street for me. I don’t rant on pve carebears so hard up they are going for pvp gear fills ins either.
RNG is hating that new alt. LFG is also not 100% nice. 213 minimal is there for em, they are getting it. we all got to start somewhere really.

at this point my hpalas pvp gear is just better than her naxx bis pve set, but i just mix them to have the least chance of being called out in either direction lmfaoo.
So the worst tank and sub par dps? I’d laugh too.

ToC was THE catch up raid for ICC. You could skip Ulduar and jump right in ToC. Betas and ++ or whatever dungeons weren’t a thing.
Kids these days just want easy mode, they watch videos and follow streamers like they are Moses.
Look at the richie rich bragging about their big money PC.
I play casually and am currently at 4.5k gs. It makes me laugh when I get rejected from healing H++ dailies by elitists, when I easily healed that same H++ a week earlier with about half my current GS.
