You portrayed your two cents as mathematical fact. That is where we come to an area of disagreement. Based on the historic actions of Blizzard up to and including the very poorly implemented Warmode, I would argue that far more people want PVE than PVP.
I think we’re gonna need another ~2 PVE servers and another ~4 PVP servers for launch day.
Your math is wrong, 2 servers at high or full vs 1…MATH IS WRONG.
You’re talking about a totally different game here… totally different player base with a few crossing over.
Go ahead. Argue. I can tell you that pservers were all PvP
Also, there’s far more people crowding on more PvP realms than PvE.
Is the PvE crowd asleep or something?
I’m with you Realsteel . I will also be on Pagle . I will not put one foot into a pvp server . I can do both pvp and pve on a pve server . If you are an Alliance , Realsteel ? I will be against you . lol
PVP is the worst possible gaming experience I could imagine. I would rather play Superman N64 than one minute on a toxic and griefer filled PVP server.
LOL so you seem to think that ONLY private server folks will play? Give me a break dude. There are an incredible amount of people who either play currently or who have left, never touched a private server, and are coming back. You have an entirely too inflated sense of self importance.
Ok dude… not sure how you came up with that from what I said… I don’t actually care anyway. Enjoy your PvE. Nobody cares
SMH lol
You can tell a lot about a person, by the assumptions they make about others.
I have never played on a private server. I have played since Vanilla. I WILL be playing Classic & love every moment of it. I will also hop back to BFA every couple of days.
Please Blizzard!!! /beg
Open a new EST PVE realm before Sunday so we can create our toons there now & not have to wait on the log-in-boss!
You have multiple things going on here.
- By all accounts the PvE Private servers had a history of fizzling and dying rather quickly. As such the Private Server players are going to trend towards defaulting to PvP.
- “Full” as indicated at the realm selection screen doesn’t tell the complete story. Blizzard has blue posts commenting on this as well.
You can have a “full realm” with an expected queue of “only a couple hundred players” which is probably the PvE realms. And you can have “full realms” with thousands of people expected to be waiting in queue. This is known to be the case with multiple PvP realms already. Probably due in large part to item #1 above.
- The “historical” population distribution between PvP and PvE during Vanilla does not necessarily reflect the population distribution that will be seen in Classic. Being a retro game, there are legitimate questions as to the reasons which will be drawing people back to the game.
That said, even with the Private Servers skewing things towards PvP. I expect a sizable number of returning players, even ones from PvP servers, will be going for PvE if only because they don’t have time to deal with the PvP activities they dealt with in Vanilla. But it’s going to be awhile before they show up in enough numbers to offset the Private server player population.
Exactly @Setup. The OP (@Berthandis) is simply “Laboring under the delusion of Vanilla past”. People swarmed PvP and the realms ended up dead and most not the dedicated, left for PvE realms.
Hopefully they create a PvE server soon. In the next couple of days you’re gonna have the unsubscribers resubbed and it’ll be harder for current subscribers to get their names.
Fortunately, I enjoy WPvP, always flagged, being ganked , doing the ganking , so I have my characters on a PvP server.
I am planning on going full carebear this time around. They will add more PvE servers, if they don’t I will just let my sub expire. I want to play the game not queue for hours. time will tell what happens Monday but I for one would rather play on a low or medium pop server than a high/full server if those have queues at all. yes constant 5 minute queues and I am out. yes I played with queues back in 2005-2006 but this is 2019 and I have grown into a gumpy old man. don’t queue me and get off my lawn you snotty kids
There are two things a player can do on a pve server while you see one flagged . You can kill it or you can ignore it while you are doing a quest .
On a pvp server , if you are red , you are dead . A real gank feast .
I would say within 48 hours , level 60’s will start ganking lowbies . Good luck on a pvp server .
Ya. I kinda feel ya. I had that same problem. Im just keeping my sever and not really going to move anymore. Ive done that 3 times now.
I’ll take my chances with the PvE Server this time around. Sure there will be an occasion where I’d like to kill the other faction player who is killing “my quest mobs” but I’m sure I’ll cope. I’ll miss some of the danger, but from what I saw in beta, there are a number of other aspects about the PvP servers I’m not going to miss. Like having to worry as much about the rat race, or keeping up with the Joneses(before they can outlevel/outgear and gank you).
PvE allows for being much more laid back about playing the game, with players that likewise are likely seeking the same chance. That seems to be about what I’m looking for this time around. So you can go enjoy living out Mad Max and Thunderdome, I’ll go enjoy my time relaxing on a beach.
That and well, due to the Private Server players concentrating on the PvP servers, and my not having been a Private Server player… I’m expecting there to be some additional “social friction” on that front which I’ll give a pass on, thank you very much.
I expect there are probably going to be several additional servers added on Monday, probably a few before the official launch, and some more shortly after. It is a pretty safe bet that there are a lot of people that will wait until the day of launch to renew their subscriptions.
Ignore the PVP trolls.
If Blizzard doesn’t put at least one more PVE server up by tonight or tomorrow morning, it’s over. Because thousands of people are re-subbing this weekend, so getting an entire guild to re-roll will be nigh impossible because all their names will be gone.
We need the PVE servers before that zerg rush in order to have a chance at convincing people to move. It was done for PVP and even then we saw how slowly people moved over. It takes a lot of coordination and discussion to get 40-100 people to move and WE NEED THAT TIME.
If Blizzard waits until Sunday or launch to add new servers, we’re all pretty much doomed to hours of queues because no one’s gonna move their main char during all that madness.
Exactly this. Just because I am personally planning on rolling on Skeram or Grob does not mean that there are more PVP server enthusiasts. For crying out loud, PVP has gotten 4 new servers while PVP has gotten none.
Try those two out together. You imply a certain significance of one type of player. Though you may have a great deal of knowledge about private server players, you are exhibiting a pretty significant lack regarding both current and returning players who never touched the private servers.
