I just came back today and was enjoying myself having fun around here when I encountered a troll. I dealt with it and thought it was all settled, but the player went out of her way to bring in another character to harass me. That crossed a line for me and I wanted to report this, not flag, but report so you can understand the situation, but there is no way to report someone in that manner here.
Now this person has me in their sights and this place does not feel safe anymore. It actually ruined the wonderful day that I was having.
Yes, Iām sensitive and thin skinned, but this is actual harassment and I donāt want it to continue.
Well, based on your usage of the word āflagā, Iām assuming whatever this is happened on the forums, else thereād be no reason to use that word.
The forums are, quite simply, a place where, within reason, everyone has the ability to criticize everyone else. Some people are less friendly with their criticism than others, and there is a line to be crossed between appropriate and inappropriate criticism.
By your own admission, youāre thin-skinned and sensitive.
In my experience, that typically indicates a situation that an outside observer would not think is crossing the aforementioned line. Having said that, if you feel someone has crossed the line on the forums, you can flag a post. And thatās it. From there, itās on a moderator to make a neutral decision about whether or not a given post is in violation of the loose guidelines Blizzard calls rules.
Youāre not given the option to explain how you feel or what your thought process was to moderators, largely because itās not terribly relevant, and also because Blizzard doesnāt need to take their already stretched-thin moderation team and then force them to have a one-on-one discussion in every situation where two people disagree and one or both get offended.
I dealt with the first trolling, it was the second time they came back under a different character that crossed a line. Now I donāt know if they are going to continue to come back in even more characters and harass.
All I want to do I report it and let the mods decide, but I guess I canāt do that.
You never mentioned it was on the forums, so I assumed you meant ingame.
Even so, same rules apply. Swapping posting characters should do the trick, since unless their literally stalking you the average troll wont know its you unless you tell them.
And the mods wonāt bother with a written report, beat you can do alongside the above is just flag and move on.
Well it depends. Was the troll from Echo Isles or was it a Zandalari troll? Why am I not taking you serious you may ask? Becuase I do not actually believe that you are being serious with this post here.
You know how to report.
After you said that, I could not take you seriously
It is a vey, VERY rare occasion that anyone from Blizzard will actually go and help anyone on these forums stemming from a request that came from these forums.
Their UI for info visibility may vary some, but Discourse is the software this forum runs on. Blizzardās mods have most (if not all) of the visibility pictured in that section.
Do keep in mind that someone frequenting the same parts of the forums you visit and commenting on the same threads you do isnāt harassment or stalking necessarily.
We donāt get the privilege of forum restraining orders, and none of us should be so optimistic as to expect that someone who gets a forum suspension is going to mend their ways and be a polite and kind-hearted soul for the remainder of their forum membership.
Some people have to get whooped a few times before they learn. Iām a good example of that. I tend to lose my cool once every year or two and cop a suspension.
How are you so certain that it is a āsheā? Someone that you know or you got that based off of speech patterns? Or did that person let you know. Block them.
I know it can be difficult to ignore others at times, especially online when we get alerts that tell us others have responded to us. As has been mentioned, the best you can do is flag the content and move on.
I have a suspicion I know whom you are talking about, and yes I would agree that her language has been negative and inappropriate. Please do your best.
