Someone mind explaining why it’s taboo to need on Frozen Orbs? I need them for JC and BS yet I get told I’m not supposed to roll need. Why?

Its a classic culture thing. Its how you weed out bad apples.
Think of it like the shopping cart, its an easy way to tell who good people are.
Everyone could use a frozen orb, but everyone greeds it because they dont actually NEED it.

Honestly I think rolling need is the safest bet. Everyone in the group should roll need on orbs. In the past, I found it helpful to make sure to announce it to the group before the first pull – it helps to set the expectation and prevent any butthurt.

All groups I’ve run with just roll need. Tons of people can use it and many more can just use the gold.
Everyone greed rolled back in the day on my server (Kargath)
It was the acceptable way of doing it, as outlined in Khlorós post.

That being said, if it’s outlined by group leader to Need roll on orbs at the start (Like it should be announced), do that lol
See, the group lead didn’t even say. I asked when one dropped I could need on it since I use them and the Tank said to greed.
do you need on boe blues from dungeon because you need the gold that comes from selling them?

It’s going to depend on the group. If everyone else greeds on a profession material, then you should as well. Best to say something before the boss “are we needing or greeding on orbs?”

There’s always that one person that will hit need, so you should just need on them. If you don’t, you won’t get a frozen orb.
In vanilla, everybody passed on loot and then did manual rolls. On the final boss is when ninjas would appear. Yes, it was dumb. I no longer trust anyone. Need what you need. Greed what you don’t.

its kind of a bad practice for classic imo
everyone runs the dungeon and a 1k gold resell value boe drops, i think everyone should greed since its a boe and everyone can use the gold. thats just my 2 cent
Edit: in tbc, primal nethers where bind on pickup at the start of the expansion.
that i was fine with when people needed on them because you couldn’t trade them. But now since orb are boe, i think the greed should be the option

Classic andys really in this thread mad as hell because somebody is needing on stuff they need. You’re all actual losers. Not content to gatekeep access to dungeons. You now want to gatekeep peoples access to their professions.
