Has anyone seen an uptick of people in pug heroics needing on a frozen orb in the end? In the first month it seemed rare, but I’d say about 1/5 of my heroic pug runs has some player needing on the orb and they don’t respond when confronted about it. Do you think this is a trend that will get worst? I was thinking about telling everyone in pug groups going forward to just all NEED roll on the orb just to be safe before the final boss fight but not sure if this is a good solution.
I ran strat heroic daily the other day, mage in group rolled need on orb and didn’t respond when comforted by group members about it. I asked him if he could at least provide a port to Dal and after silent for 5 secs, starts teleporting to Org and when I hearthed back to Dal, saw him instantly posted Orb for sale in trade chat. I added him to my ignore list going forward to avoid him in future groups lol.
By the way, I haven’t come across any tanks demanding orbs if they join a group after running heroics probably 100+ times so that’s some good news. It’s nice to get the supplies box afterwards as a tank as that means I have an endless supply of HP/mana pots, scrolls, flasks, etc. It honestly isn’t hard to find groups on my server Mankrik for most heroics even as a DPS besides AN that only has melee in the que lol (probably for that BiS stam trinket, etc. I’m still looking for it after 8 runs myself!), can take a little longer to get a group for that one sometimes.
It’s mostly Indonesian gold farmers who are doing this. They don’t respect the game or anyone, making gold is their priority even if screw other people for it. So many of them are camping the AH, dk botting, needing on epics and orbs at the end of each heroic. They are parasites and blizzard needs to remove them.
I started out just greeding them but there was always someone who waited till the end and rolled need. Seems to be the accepted thing now for everyone to need on them.
Thanks for the feedback, is that a common trend now on your server Sturmfaust? Here on Mankrik 90-95% of my pug groups all still roll greed, where the last 5%-10% seem to be those types of people that Combat pointed out, or someone who just didn’t care maybe and wanted one to craft an item probably and didn’t want to wait, who knows…I haven’t had one person that rolled need say it was a mistake and offered a reroll.
It’s not even worth trying to maintain any etiquette here. If one person needs then they force everyone else to need to make it fair so may as well give up on this.
I have not seen a single heroic where anyone rolled greed even on accident.
Interesting! Dang people on Mankrik must be all chill, seems that way over TBC too. We just all had a trend of greeding. It’s only been recently in my experience to see someone roll need in the end 5-10% of the time and seems to be a trend now. I think I’ll just start telling everyone in my pug groups to roll need now to be safe. I know people say making gold in wrath is easy and yes I got about 8,000+ from doing quests in all the zones on my pally besides one last zone, but it’s still nice once you’re done questing to have some things to sell on AH and orb wins are one of them to me.
Just watch the rolls and wait for the first person to make a roll. If anyone needs then you also need. It’s not that anyone is particularly desperate for the Frozen Orb it is just the most fool proof way to ensure a fair roll without anyone being able to ninja it.
Yeah. Arugal here. Haven’t been in a group where someone rolled greed for a long time now. Easier just to all need, then it’s effectively same as all greeding without the risk of someone snaking it.
Ninja looters in lfg now, priceless…lol. Just always “need” eliminate the ninja looter. Since, groups take so long to form, bet no repercussions really happen. People just want to run the content.
Groups take all of 5 minutes to form for us. Maybe 10 as dps. The repercussions don’t happen because the ignore list is capped and the GIL addon breaks the group finder
Not that a couple of people ignoring you on a 10k plus server is really much of a deterrent.
I posted about this in trade chat in Mankrik just now alerting them about the trend of ninja looters and suggesting to tell group ahead of time to all roll need on orb (best place to have a discussion right? ) and 75% of the replies were saying people need to just greed on orbs / who cares about ninja looters / "it’s 50g orb stop crying about it, etc. / and 20% of people saying they just recommend rolling last in case someone needs on the orb and roll need on it at that point. The final 10% were saying that’s a good idea. Our server just don’t want to get on the need orb bandwagon I guess lol. Oh well, I know what I’m doing in my own pug groups going forward to fight against the ninja/gold farmers from getting their way 100% of the time. If they roll need, and I win the orb rolling need after, I’ll ask the group to rereoll on it at that time and exclude the ninja person who would have left and posted it for sale in trade/AH.
Funny enough, even in TBC, it was common on our sever to roll greed on primals too. Maybe that’s why our server is stuck in our greed ways for F. orbs too and just put up with the ninja looter we see 5-10% of the time. If it was bigger I’m sure the trend would change but still somewhat small for now on our sever.
where do you even get that from? you always needed on frozen orbs to prevent ninja looting of them, you some sort of racist or someone with no common sense?
we needed frozen orbs in 2009…wotlk it’s just so people can’t steal them and everyone gets a fair roll at them.
some of you people need to think before making posts.
Done 100+ heroic runs on my sever and everyone besides that small chance ninja looter rolls greeds. Server problem hopefully we change the trend to make it a nonissue.
