You need like 3-5 players together to unlock this rune. That might have made sense on launch day, but not anymore.
My server is so full it’s constantly getting locked, yet I’m still the only person standing here after a very long time. Making people stand around for hours waiting on 2-4 other people feels really bad.

Every rune that requires others, has a quest that requires others to be present, or requires you to enter and kill things in a dungeon/raid is bad design.

Couldn’t disagree more. I think encouraging low level teamwork is great in an MMO. I think the Frozen Makrura is a perfect example of a rune acquisition done correctly.
If you think this rune is bad, you’re in for a rude awakening later on.

Imagine complaining about needing to cooperate with people to unlock something. In an MMORPG. Blasphemy.

The rude awakening is the realization 90% of these runes are major time sinks and because of that, terrible design.
Getting Wild Growth didn’t make me a proud Druid-it pissed me off.
Getting Meta didn’t make me feel good suicide running into two towers, running SFK, running BFD and walking across the continent multiple times.
Wild Strikes? Took longer to find 10 beats ti heal than it did to swim from Westfall to Booty Bay, hop on a boat to Ratchet, stealth walk across the Barrens into Stone Talon Mountain, and kill mobs until it dropped.
It’s overall bad design, will only get worse moving forward and they’ve already publicly acknowledged some of these runes weren’t done right because of a “communication error” between teams.
Sucks to suck. P2 will only make P1 runes worse, and only God and Blizzard know what they have in store for us moving forward.

I am shocked. A video game, which by design is meant to waste your time, is…wasting your time.
I am positively flabbergasted.

I am shocked too.
But I’ll allow you to disagree.

Yes you’re in for a rude awakening that some of the others have an even worse design.

I didn’t complain about needing to cooperate with other people. I didn’t complain about the Ancestral Guidance rune since you only needed 1 other person in a highly trafficked area (although that one will probably also become problematic once people aren’t making new characters anymore). Stuff like dungeons and the BFD raid require cooperation with other players, but those are fun.
Frozen Makrura is not fun. I stood there for 20+ minutes today waiting for other people (and advertising in general chat) and a grand total of zero people showed up. And this is on the most active SoD server (Crusader Strike).
Just because you’re incapable of understanding what is or isn’t bad design doesn’t mean that you have to spend your entire day being a contrarian on a video game forum.

yeah it sounds great until the first couple weeks pass and then there aren’t enough lowbies anyore

Hard disagree. This is an MMO, and that’s how things should be designed in an MMO. Poor design is putting the quest target in a zone that wasn’t designed to retain players throughout the entire lifespan of the server.
As you said, there are plenty of people playing-- they just aren’t where you are.

These vanilla Andy’s have a major inconvenience fetish
If they are being inconvenienced in any way they sit back in their chair and say to themselves “I love classic”
Don’t let it be a raid boss though they will cry about it all over the forums. They can’t do more than one mechanic or their brains shut down from stress
I have seen them call Kelris a “mythic raid boss”

everyone wants everything handed to them
WHy do people persist that MMO means Grouping? It never has. It has ALWAYS meant many people playing at the same time online.
MMO can be a game where there are 10000 people on a server and NOONE has to group with anyone to do anything.

And that design philosophy leads to the retail open world. This is classic; that’s not what we want

The reality is as phases move forward less people will be available to do these lower level rune events. I’m willing to bet they will move them to the vendor shop at some point.
As phases move forward, you can just… level up and then solo them.
I do think some of these will become problematic. The one for lifebloom was annoying as it requires a second player to click the portal. I waited around for about 40 minutes before someone else showed up.
The biggest problem is many of these are intended to be gotten at a really low level, so if you’re a fresh player with no guild or friends on the server yet, it could be quite annoying moving forward as very few people will be around to help.
Ultimately it’s not a game breaker or anything, but it’s the rough equivalent of having to be like “hey can someone fly across the world to watch me buy rank 2 wrath, the game requires someone watch me or I can’t buy it”. It’s not great gameplay for lowbies to have to get outside help to acquire their basic abilities.

Is it one of those quests that only one person can do at a time, and it takes time? Like the questline for the Seal of Wrynn ring?
