According to several pages on the main 2 warcraft wikis, pre-shadowlands the soul of Ner’zhul was placed inside the Helm, which was sealed alongside Frostmourn in a block of special ice that became the frozen throne after hitting planet-side.
Post shadowland lore it gets vague if his soul was in the helm, the sword, the frozen throne itself, or (most likely it seems) spread into a combo of the three. The helm and sword are a matched pair and I guess shadowlands didn’t pin it down quite as well.
I remember a bunch of speculation back when that the whispers of the sword were from Old Gods, since there was so much Metallicized Old God blood around that was used in a lot of Scourge construction and powerful weapon making. Plus there was Yogg-Saron being right next door to Icecrown.
The answer is that they wanted Stormbringer whispers despite already having solved the issue as of who was whispering. It didn’t matter. Cool sentient sword whispers. News at eleven.

Ner’zhul was placed inside the armor and Frostmourne. Thats according to Warcraft and not some wiki that people dont understand is not a source.
Those dont affect undead.

The void can’t corrupt them or bind them to it, but that does not mean they can’t interact. All of the undead slain by shadow priests show that, as well as every interaction the forsaken have with void entities and old gods. Especially those through the Black Blade, and the Eye of N’zoth.
I’d love this idea. The whole 'you don’t get Frostmourne while Rogues get Thunder Fury and DH gets Illidan Glaives is insane.

Never say never. People with that mentality have also said “You’ll never get Transmog”, “You’ll never be able to transfer items between characters”, and so on. Yet here we are, and both are a thing now. Never is a long time and it makes you look like a goof when time proves you wrong. IMHO, why be a forum troll when you can just be quiet? Don’t flip out over it. I’m just offering you some food for thought from one sentient to another, because I feel it’s better to say nothing, and silently disagree; than to attack fellow forum-goers or accuse them of complaining.

Labeling people as a forum troll that should just shut up doesnt make people shut up, its antagonistic.
Because some people want to be immersed within a story and others want to destroy that because “screw lore and screw the story”.
You arent me, and you came in to say what you did which is going against this quote.

Then they need to stop complaining, and pointing out they are complaining while Frostmourne is gone is not attacking these toxic people.
I always wanted to just be in the room with the Primus during Shadowlands and be like “Hey, know how I helped free you and save the Shadowlands from Zovaal? Think you could do me a solid and reforge these two swords that used to be a Mourneblade into 1 legendary blade for me. If you need materials I got this Axe you can use.” Hell, post Fyr’alath I have two legendary axes he could use as materials or resources to make me a new blade.
I don’t even care if it looks like Frostmourne, I just always wanted the master smith of the shadowlands to reforge the Blades of the Fallen Prince and Shadowmourne into a new DK Mourneblade. Would help explain how new DKs are raised now that both Frostmourne and the Helm of Domination are gone.

Alt timeline? Same said no.
Well now we have MEMORIES
We got the toothpicks which were made from the shards. We make a Memory of Frostmourne using well memories trapped in the toothpicks. Memories of Frostmourne to make a replica blade for us to use. Bam, transmog and item bada boom.
Lore is sated, why? Because we aren’t physically wielding THE frostmourne so the soul stealing is moot. And it Looks exaclty like frostmourne so those of us wanting it are happy.

New DK’s arent currently being made.
Still grasping I see. And still bigoted against DW. And those memories wouldnt cut it. Have you played the game and seen these memories? It would be a transparent blue yellow 1h sword.

Hell if people in real life are making replicas of it, a blacksmith in game could too /shrug
I’m pretty sure players in diablo immortal got a frostmourne replica before players in WoW WHERE IT ORIGINATED FROM!

Is there even anyone playing Diablo Immortal outside of people that have more money than they know what to do with? Its a whale game.
I never said Azeroth’s memories.
But hell let’s do that too a Remembered Frostmourne in the glowy gold & blue of the radiant echoes.
