Am I the only one? I tested 2h frost until today and my damage was just awful, slow and reliant on cds. Not to mention I take a lot of damage for whatever reason. I switched to unholy and it’s so much stronger. It’s not even close.
I’m leveling my mage too and his damage output while leveling feels much better already. And somehow he takes less damage than my frost dk did.
Or maybe I’m a frost noob. I freely accept that if it’s truly good and I just suck haha.
It feels a little better at 58 when killing machine procs turn obliterate into frost damage. Outside of obliteration windows, 2hand feels lack luster. I find myself switching to unholy more often.
Yea I gave up today on frost. I got decent gear at 60 now and still feels weak.
It is weak… im a good frost player and not great at unholy but im doing more damage as unholy… this was while testing dw frost with night fae. No cds… no damage
Any frost build at 60 is going to be about the burst windows, whether it’s 1min obliteration or 2min breath of sindy. That’s just how the spec works right now.
KM2 makes those procs feel pretty damn good though.

Yeah pretty disappointed in frost. Unholy is just way more powerful for anything I’ve done.
I was pretty upset over it that I started leveling my mage today. Not sure what I’m going to do now.
2h is a little weak but its not because it doesnt do good burst damage, Its natural killing machine proc rate is 80% less than duel wield. I made a post suggesting a runeforge to help bridge the gap but as it stands frost does no damage or pressure outside its cooldowns
If youre not seeing results even while bursting i think thats just because you dont have the rotation for the burst down yet
Frost does less single target damage right now, and has a much, much lower AoE than Unholy. It’s just not good for now, its damage is undertuned. 2h also sucks really really bad at AoE.
PvE is bad, PvP is worse. I can’t win a fight with anyone, it’s not even close the disparity in damage output. I feel like I wasted my time thinking it was tuned for 60 after prepatch and that things would get better, but it feels just as bad - slow, clunky, just babysitting GCD. Spell and ability rotation feels like this:
One…and…Two…and…Three…and…Four…and…
Meanwhile in PvP a single stun is a death sentence. And it’s not like we didnt spend over a month telling them the prepatch frost nerfs were horrible and unneeded, yet here we are anyway.
Don’t waste your time if you’re on the fence, roll something else.
I agree you on pvp. I hit like 2 year old even with full vers mastery. I physically cannot harm a shadowpriest, hunters burst is insane and even if you survive the 2shot if you don’t trinket exactly binding you sit there for 8 seconds waiting for the sweet release of death, enhancement shamans full heal over and over again with nothing I can do all the while bursting 1/2 HP in 2 seconds. Nothing in PvP feels fair other than warriors and warlocks. Hell even paladins seem like a fair fight compared to a majority of the cast.
Gotta have some crit or you wont get any KM procs unless you are just relying on Obliteration to provide KM procs every minute.
Lol ya I attempted pvp. It was abysmal.
My paladin at 50 out-damages my 60 Frost DK by a considerable margin. I just can’t even understand which dev had the responsibility to tune this, looked at the numbers and said “Yep, right in line with everything else.”
Right? It’s truly mind boggling. It’s not even remotely close to par with other classes. On top of all that mobility is utter trash too which doesn’t help us in pvp.
What ilvl and content are you guys doing that your having such a hard time keeping up on dps? I think the only time I wasn’t top damage or close to it was in a normal with a lvl 51 hunter and wired meter scaling happened.
Unholy will most likely see a pretty big nerf.
It’s a little too strong.
Frost will most likely see an aura buff in the coming weeks as they continue balancing.
2h Frost is not a great pick for aoe right now.
Might be better to switch to DW obliteration?
I haven’t found BOS to be very useful even in mythic 0 as everything dies so fast.
DW oblit felt pretty terrible, i went back to unholy for now personally. Night and day difference
I’ve leveled between 2H frost and Unholy and I will say this that Unholy smacks harder and it’s noticeable too. Mobs just melts as unholy.
So with Frost the biggest damage we can do is having a lot of mastery combined with our new Oblit frost proc and run Obliteration.
Obliteration proc scales with mastery now combined with MOTFW and everything else including necrotic aura and my mastery gives me +98% damage on our obliteration procs (during burst uptime my oblit procs are around 5k) the only way to reliably do this is to run Obliteration which makes our Pillar of Frost way more important as it will allow us to do this multiple times back to back.
The biggest problem with frost (besides being the squishiest plate wearer imo) is that outside PoF and ERW we have zero good damage.
Also can someone hit the nail on the head for 2H vs 1H?
Feels like with 2H we hit harder during PoF but outside we never get many procs, whereas 1H gives you less damage during PoF but better chance for procs, which is the go to?
