From 1 to 10, how would you rate Blizzard's handling of Classic?

8/10 overall. I’m docking them two points for not realizing right away that good-faith players do not exist in today’s gaming environment.

7/10 I cant believe I played classic this much.

But blizz make a easy home run with classic, easy money overflow their minimal work. They own us a better TBC classic.

Classic is about a 7/10 for me right now, all things considered.
Blizzard’s handling of Classic is a 4/10 for me.
The community is a 2/10.

Terrible communication.
Horrible “No-changes” philosophy.
Bugs fixes are incredibly slow in many cases.

2/10 they murdered it. trying to fix a game without gms… adding more lotus spawns which was the biggest stupidest idea… the vanilaa team back in 2004 was on another level anything beyond what these snowflaeks at blizzard is doing today. no they are bad at games, this was proof.

I won’t harp on the game issues people have talked about however the community is something that I haven’t experienced since early wrath. It’s literally what keeps me playing classic and not SL despite the Bells and whistles.

For me it was a 10/10 until they made the change to multiboxing and now it’s more like a 3/10.

The mechanics of the game have never bothered me. It was just really interesting and fun playing multiple characters in a game where I didn’t feel like I was being handed rewards by the dump truck full or led around by the nose like a toddler. Since the change I’ve gone from avidly playing 7 pairs of characters down to playing 4 solo characters but my enthusiasm for them is pretty low. I think I’m mainly playing because i couldn’t get a refund on my prepurchased time.

Solid 6.

I really wish they would have done away with Spell Batching, kept Layering, adjust AQ War Effort + Event, adjusted Tagging to be that of Retail (but only for quest items; especially apparent during the Invasions).

Don’t even want to hear people point out “nochange”. You’re a hypocrite. Vanilla didn’t let you send 12 items in a single mail; it was 1 item per mail. Vanilla let you auto-downrank spells because that level of access wasn’t restricted from addons, the water was an ‘animated sprite’, there was no ‘collision detection’ on brush, there was no BattleNet as we know it. Funny how there wasn’t any complaints about those.

If you accept one change; you accept any change.

Your “Vanilla Experience” never existed.

8 or 9 regarding the most recent changes, but overall a 5 or 6. Most of their work did not harm anyone’s experience. Making mechanics work that were initially supposed to, making Black Lotus less exploitable by bots, fixing pvp unreachable exploits and balancing item procs were all great things to fix, despite them not having been fixed in vanilla proper. Dungeons and raids were not harmed in any capacity, they at least BOTHERED to notice bots, some problematic servers got managed and there’s an even 50-50 split overall for alliance and horde. They did not actively get in the way of our fun themselves, plus they even made some good minor changes which is nice. Batching was obviously a sore spot as well as rampant botting, but for the most part it did not absolutely ruin the vast majority of players’ experiences.

Overall a more than functional but less than stellar service. Despite minimal effort they did not stop Classic from being the massive success that it is. If TBC Classic isn’t around the corner at this point I have no idea what to say - I guess “since when did they not like (nearly) free money” for starters maybe.

6 because they released classic wow and now TBC. But in handling everything: Bots - Fail, Presence of GMs - Fail, AV - Fail, Mage mass dungeon farming - Fail, Melee Leeway - Fail, Spellbatching - Fail, Boosting - Fail.

The loss of subs in phase 2 isn’t blizzards fault its the persons fault that picked a pvp server because they thought they did but really didn’t.

Also 6/10 I wanted the older version of av. The cave situation complaining is just an excuse those that played av in vanilla knew. When TBC comes out people complaining about the cave will be on these forums gloating about winning.

My biggest beef is the shortage of herbs and ores. Everything is farmed to death. To be honest even if i was given the binding to craft thunderfury i’d not even bother with it. Arcane crystals are a waste of my time to try to farm. Herbs are just as bad.

i could complain about the prices of everything but that is a case of far too many players marketing the AH. You guys should be ashamed of the prices i see for crappy low leveled gear.

The classic player base is who mishandled classic.

Playerbase’s can be supported and managed. Blizzard chose not to.

  1. All they did was throw out the content updates. They literally started classic with I believe the final balance update which was 1.12? I did not like that. Seriously felt like they hardly paid attention to took feedback especially when it came to AV. Not havin the original vanilla AV was a HUGE downer for me personally.

-1 Blizzard didn’t actively stay ahead of some of the challenges they needed to deal with, notably regarding population controls. If Blizzard realized way back in Phase 1 what would occur, Phase 2 likely would have gone smoother and produced fewer faction stacked murder-ball servers, outdoor farming would have been more manageable, and folks would have kept their robust economies and large communities.

-1 Blizzard has not handled botting and anti-cheat issues well enough.

They should go back to the old forum ways so no more trolls blocking comments. The right click report is being abused and ruined the game. They should give mods the ability to hide posts. Not players.

The pvp system is being abused exactly thesame way by trolls and you get silenced from mass reporters all because you talked about an anime they hate and 2 of your friends in av loved that anime. Make it removed or make it so if the reason is not sufficient enough for a block the opposing reporters get punished.

  1. There not being an option added to remove world buffs in a raid https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/please-add-right-click-option-no-world-buffs/762520 (you can still do a normal raid without the option with world buffs)

And look what this says

Differences from 2006 to Modern Kel’Thuzad Kills Back in 2006, Easy Company didn’t regularly get World Buffs for raids. This is apparently the first time the guild ever went and got world buffs, for their first Kel’Thuzad kill! Back in 2006, getting and stacking world buffs for as much time wasn’t really a strategy for most guilds. You can even see in the video when the guild runs to Naxxramas from Light’s Hope Chapel , instead of using level 20 Warlock Alt summoners

as you can see here about world buffs HAH!

  1. Minor ones

The bugs in naxx with bosses. That stupid heigan buff the China pros abused. The KT fissure bug.

Everything else besides that is perfect.

These aren’t Blizzard problems.

He’s right. Boosting isnt Blizzards problem. Good chance it will exist forever.

Maybe you should all be glad Blizzard gave us Vanilla. I love vanilla but I will quit because of the report systems pvp silence which has nothing to do with the original vanilla, and blizzard should make changes to the forum block and in-game silence.

8.5

Points deducted for failure to address world buff stacking and aoe boosting, two obvious game-breaking exploits that players developed, that would have certainly been fixed in 2006 had they become the meta.

Otherwise, the game has been mostly great.
