Friend got silenced in game for being afk

I am not criticizing Blizzard, I’m just saying… Letting random people report you is a tyrannical democracy where the majority has power over the minority. GM’s rarely ever look into these things.

And this is in General discussion why?

Because the in-game silence affects both classic and retail players.

Yes, but wouldn’t this be better in CS? lol

What did you contribute to this conversation? We already have evidence of people mass reporting AV afkers.

Okay, well if he’s completely innocent why doesn’t he just appeal it then? Or make a ticket asking what he said that was so inappropriate to make him receive a in-game silence

silenced for being afk = report abuse

blizzard needs to dump this bad system and stop letting mobs nuke the game for other people

Merely that I thought you would like official information on silencing rather than forum opinions, which differ depending on subjective viewpoint.

And really, the “tyrannical democracy” comment confused me since they seem to be diametrically opposed ideas.

definitely not the appropriate punishment for the behavior. Personally Id block AFKers from partaking of the content for a week every time they do it.
Play the game. If they dont want to play the game, dont log in.

He will appeal, but average ticket time is very long and until you get to a real GM you’re basically muted for days.

He got reported for being afk?

If he was afk how could he have typed something to be reported in the first place? You’re friend a psychic are just a huge liar

These are being appealed. But some are month long bans and Blizzard is not getting to the appeals until a week later.

The issue is that these people are not actually AFK.

It is not a chat report.

Did you not read the title? It said silences, not bans.

Oh and PS here is a Blue explanation which is also useful:

He was silenced which suggests being banned from chats you know a punishment you get for being reported in chat

punishment will probably be over before its reviewed, bad system is bad

The title does not match what he is explaining. He is describing the bans put forth for being AFK. It is just incorrect wording in his title.

Please read above.

Yes because either op or their friend is lying they’ve quite clearly said something in chat that breaks ToS and been silenced if they were just afk they’d be kicked and get a lockout on qued content for several minutes

Where were they afk at? This is the most important part if they were in group content or blocking mailboxes/ npcs then I can see why they were reported.
