TLDR- Is it truly IMPOSSIBLE for a GM to remove an UNUSED faction transfer from a character?
Friend bought the wrong paid service (he’s new) and didn’t use the service (it’s sitting beside his char on char select screen). He contacted a GM about how it was the wrong xfer type and they refunded his money, but told him he had NO CHOICE but to accept the faction xfer and that it was "literally impossible (GM’s words) to remove it from his account. He said if he accepted it would they reverse it and they said no.
He wants to realm xfer and the game will not let him while “another service is pending” and his hands are tied. Basically a GM told him it was legit impossible to fix. Is my friend screwed for life on this toon until huge accept the faction xfer and pays for a 2nd xfer?
Technically, yes, all digital sales are final. There can be exceptions, however-- was your friend trying to see if they’d swap out the faction change for a realm change and refund the difference? Because that is indeed something they can’t do. This is also extremely time-sensitive.
He’ll have to ticket again under Refunds, and if there isn’t an option to refund the faction change with the automated feature there should be another link to access the ticket form.
Most digital purchases are intended to be final, but we do understand mistakes happen. While no refund is guaranteed, if reported soon after it happened we are often able to help.
Without a reference point I can’t be sure what a Game Master may have replied with, it does seem like we’re missing some information on this story.
This happened in the last 2 or 3 days.
So he got the refund no problem, the issue is they didn’t undo the faction xfer tag on the character and are refusing to take it away.
He is being left with 2 options:

Accept the faction xfer then wait the 3 days (or however long the lockout is) and PAY for another xfer back.

Never accept the faction xfer but never be allowed to buy another character service ever again because that one is forever “pending”.
A character name and server might help.
You may not get the whole answer, as this is your friend, but it might help.
We can’t take the pending faction change icon away, Bolmung, if that is what your friend is referring to than the Game Master is correct, it is currently impossible.
It needs to be used, then it can be reverted. Are you sure your friend had the faction change refunded already and it isn’t waiting for confirmation of something? Do you have a ticket ID?
I will pass this info along to him. He is brand new to the game (Shadowlands prepatch) and isn’t familiar with navigating all of this kind of stuff. I will let him know to try and contact Blizz again requesting a different GM’s answer on the matter. Hopefully one can confirm that if he accepts it can be undone.
