I really think its depends honestly.
Anyone who genuinely things dual spec is a bad thing, was dropped too many times as a child. Makes sense tho, this was the same community that lost it when druids were able to use polearms in era.

But 1.12 was a pre TBC version, all but Naxx were not balanced for this system.
You cheat yourself, if you claim that 1.12. was some kind of “best WOW” as it ruined a lot on the way to that state.
We used to have pvp only pvp, that was the best pvp ever in WOW. Premades that did battle for Rank 14, raid guilds with their T2 prot Warriors holding the flag, you had to outplay their defences, it was fabulous.
With xrealm, all that went away. It was now either a premade steamrolling a pug, or a premade leaving the BG´s, when another premade was in.
The talents were so strong, that most of the content in the game, could now be done with half a raid group. AV which used to be the best pvp BG with PVE elements and true teamwork on various fronts, was now a 5 minute zerg.
1.12 was really unfun and the time when I quit WOW for the first time.
I would argue that the game around 1.07, was pretty much at a sweet spot. We moved to 16 Debuff slots, had losers mark in BG´s, a new fun BG with Arathi, a wonderful ZG raid, need greed system and so on.
With 1.08 they started to cripple the game by making it more easy, especially AV with the NPC nerf.

Having to do it at the trainer, nah. Just rested areas will suffice for a restriction. Keeps people from flip flopping in the middle of a raid without some attached inconvenience. Or put a longish CD on swapping and allow it anywhere.

It’s starting to make sense now.
LFG tool, dual spec, no debuff limit, gdkp ban, and who knows what else QoL changes…
These anniversary fresh realms are to be the future home for SoD characters.

How dare you allow druids to use a weapon that is completely useless and a full downgrade for them!
SoD characters have a FAR more likely chance of going to Cata / Mop servers afterwards.

It’s adding up.
Given that the gear on SoD is wildly different im doubting theyll end up leaving their own little quarantine. I wouldnt be surprised if SoD realms became forever realms until they died out so far that it came time to give them thr Ol Yeller treatment.
