I want fresh classic and tbc servers. Another round of classic progression servers would be fun too.
I really don’t understand how people don’t know that what you find fun others don’t and what you might hate others enjoy. Fun is subjective to each induvial person I don’t think that’s a hard concept to interpret. There just seems to be so much “hate” on people expressing what they want and I just find it crazy, I dunno maybe I’m just getting to old lol.
For people to say that no one wants this or that I think is just silly, if no one wanted classic it never would have been relaunched. Private servers wouldn’t exists and wouldn’t keep relaunching. I love the old wow, I gave SOD/cata a chance but I just couldn’t get into it and if you do enjoy then thats great I hope they keep a server up for you as well. Some people seem to get so angry when you voice what you would like out of wow. I would love to know why people post negatively towards what other people want, so if that’s you please speak up.
Honestly for the amount of money blizz makes off wow they easily could have servers up for all expansions of wow. Even if they had to release a mount on those servers I wouldn’t care if I get to play want I want to play.
But I think you need the fresh servers so everyone starts off at the same point. Your not over run by bots /boosts or people with end game gear. You get to level with the player base and group with friends/randoms 1-60. I think they should have servers where your chara goes after the reset etc but I think that’s what makes classic awesome is the levelling and progressing into dungeons/raids.
I mean I had been levelling some characters on whitemain and there are just nax geared people just constantly killing lowbies makes it not very enjoyable.
Why? If you’re going to say “level playing field”, that’s more wishful thinking than plausible theory. In practice, it doesn’t exist whether the server is fresh or not.
Besides all that, its already a level playing field, regardless of noticeable disparities due to server age. The game is the same for everyone who plays it. No one is given any special treatment and that’s all that matters.
You can do this on an existing server. Its already been done by some on “dead” servers although it can be done on a server with any size population. It is much easier on a fresh server, Ill give you that but its really not necessary.
That’s subjective like you said. Im not going to say I enjoy being curbstomped but its part of the process. The people flexing in their Naxx gear had to put the time in to get Naxx geared.
I’m currently doing some ranking on a newer 60 and in the early going I had to take my lumps and while Im still fodder for R14’s and T3 players but Im catching up and there’s a ceiling - its not that bad.
Im not wholly opposed to fresh servers. I think there is a time and place for them to come into existence and a right way to deliver them but not for the reasons most fresh players want them for.
I would love to see 2 servers that makes the people who liked the outland xp…one server that liked the lich king exp… I say 2 because one would be for pvp the other for non pvp…I also the the crying done if this happened lol…it would be nice though
Objectively pvp is far less fun when the majority of people you are playing against out gear you considerably, end of story.
I’m not going to debate as to when the proper time to start a server is, but I certainly don’t see an issue with a player making a request and others as well if they feel the same stating their desires. Blizzard is going to do whatever they determine is best for Blizzard and really there’s no need to worry about it. This player is providing Blizzard information of what he’d like at least. What was the point of your post? To critique that desire? pfft… keep it to yourself.
The only difference I can spot between an existing server and a new one is the AQ event. Sure, its definitely easier to get more people leveling together on a new server than say, trying to put together a reroll guild on an existing one but all that (and more) is over within a couple of months.
That’s more of an assumption than anything else. I already attested to it not being the best feeling but there’s always going to be somebody better than you whether it be gear or something else and there’s nothing preventing anyone from improving their gear.
If you need better gear to compete go and get better gear, you don’t need a fresh server to do that.
Do you see the irony in explaining that the forums are here for feedback but then get salty about feedback?
I have no issue with people making fresh server requests. Its just when they tell me its super important to be on equal footing with everyone else for like the span of a week.
I don’t think it’s really an “equal footing” thing as much as the early game power struggle is a lot of fun when the entire server fights for power together. This is an element that doesn’t exist on era.
The pvp ranking culture is also vastly different than what is currently on era. Era and fresh have plenty of similarities, but your typical fresh gamer, is just playing the game and treating it as a video game, and when their goals are fulfilled, they stop playing. Wether than is phase 2 or phase 6. They’ll then play other games until the fresh itch comes back. This behavior is not exclusive to WoW
Most pro fresh takes boil down to who has what and this thread is no different. Two posters are talking about gear disparities in PvP like that’s not going to happen on a fresh server. I guess getting owned on a newer server feels better than getting owned on an old one, I dunno.
In the past, I said I would be fine with new (and locked to transfers for a time) Era servers so long as they keep their BGs cross realmed and they eventually join the appropriate server type and time zone cluster.
Of course, I got the but everyones in Naxx/R14 gear and will be dunking on the greenies like that’s doesn’t already happen in BGs now. Fresh servers don’t guarantee the things they say they do.
Again, I don’t care that people want them or why, nor would I be upset if they happened but the justifications for them are pretty weak.
If that were the case we wouldn’t have had fresh vanilla servers perpetually repeat over and over again for more than a decade
There is a reason for that. But people who will main era shouldn’t be worried. If they were not worried there would be no reason to ask these questions imo
The preference is fine. Saying pvp gear disparities basically disappear because fresh is untrue. Saying people in end game gear is problematic when you want to start a new toon is weak. To suggest there will be no bots, boosts or RMT because fresh is weak if not patently false.
You get a 2-3 month honeymoon period because people have to level, get attuned and start gearing. After that, its business as usual. Classic barely made it to the first BG patch after launch before the cracks started to show. Its not going to be any different the second, third or tenth time around.
I guess Im supposed to assume its because lots of people like fresh starts and those people like to start fresh often. That’s probably true in some cases but there’s probably more than one reason why servers opened.
I’m not in denial about the preference for fresh servers and I understand why people like them. I’m not against fresh servers being opened. I’m just highly skeptical of some of the “perks” they supposedly offer.
What I mean by “level playing field” is everyone starting off with nothing people looking for groups to quest, dungeons, rep farm etc its completely different atmosphere to when I log in now and see gdkp this and boosting no fly hacks that. If you cant understand what I mean by that you at least understand that’s what some people want to play. I totally get where you coming from as well because I’m like you but on the other side of the fence where I cant understand why people would want to play on a server of wow that’s been out for 5years and not want a reset (its still the best version of wow we got I mean that’s why I’m playing). But I get some people want that and enjoy that and not going to say they are wrong or what not because I don’t like it.
(I’m not saying this is you just talking in general)
I would like to know what you think is the right time and place for classic relaunch and what you think are not the right reason for players to want it.
And with pvp I think getting curbstomped is great in pvp servers nothing wrong with it but when you have the same two rogues camping it on boat every day is a bit much… With that being said I did do this back in 2006 with my mates and we got whispered by gm’s to move on just after a few hours.
But just last week I go to bb get killed on the boat, run out of bb get killed 3 times by the same people then get to my quest spot get killed by another 60 a few times because hes power questing his alt in the area. Yeah I get it I’m on a pvp sever you get that but that also why a fresh server would be awesome because people got things todo rather then sit around killing lowbies for hours on end.
I could deal with some QoL changes if they were going to give me fresh servers. Things like the calendar and shamans being able to totem recall, even giving pally a taunt. But I know alot of players wouldn’t like this including my mates, and this sort of the direction that I was hoping we were going to get in classic plus.
And to everyone posting in this thread I respect that no one has deemed anyone for their opinions gold stars all around <3
fresh tbc would be fun if they kept the servers like they did in sod. when servers eventually went one sided at the end of phase 1, start of phase 2 SSC it got less interesting. World pvp was actually pretty fun in tbc. world pvp in wrath i didnt care for at all.
This is as old as time. Cavemen probably argued about who wore the best animal skins.
or who had the club the most gophers. Growing up, it wasn’t much about video games. Nintendo was a pretty new thing back in the 80’s, and many families couldn’t afford it. What did the kids I grew up with argue about? Comic book heroes and villains, which sport was the best (soccer was at the absolute bottom of the list back then.) I also recall being called an idiot in elementary school because I answered “Toyota” when asked who makes the best trucks.
High school was through the mid-90’s for me. We argued about which type of music is best. Which gang in Detroit was the toughest (I grew up in a working class suburb of Detroit… gangs seemed to be fascinating to the dumb kids.) Comic book fans were put on the fringe, along with the D&D kids. Discussions about video games were usually friendly.
Then comes the internet. All the sudden, the comic book geeks find a plethora of others like them. Arguments ensued, and comic books became more socially acceptable.
The WoW forums are where WoW players gather to discuss the game. I think we can all see where this is going.
Yeah I get what your saying and you know your probably right. I guess I really just wanted to bring to attention to people that just because you don’t want something other people still do and you don’t need to put people down just for saying what they want. Just to have a conversation about classic with people talking sanely about what they want / don’t want goes alot further for a discussion imo. These days just feels like the forums gets worse and worse.
I understand it perfectly well. I just don’t put much stock into the rhetoric because its mostly empty promises and wishful thinking. When the server goes live there will be a ton of gold farmers lined up with everyone else in the opening rush and sales will happen. I also don’t think you need a new server to quest, dungeon, rep farm and so on as those things are still possible on an existing realm.
Yeah sure, getting WC and SM groups are a lot easier to find when half the population is level 40 and under but seeing as that doesn’t last for the life of the server I dont see the point in opening said server for that reason.
In the older discussions Id ask why we need fresh servers and what the problem was and was told “P6 server”. The fate of any fresh server is to become a P6 server so I fail to see how fresh servers are any kind of solution, thats all.
To me, wanting something isnt a reason or enough of one because what if people wanted RDF, dual specs, WoW tokens and cash shop boosts for Era? People have asked for all those things and more. Does Blizz cave and implement those things merely because people want them?
In my view, there has to be some kind of necessity to what you’re asking for and when it comes to fresh servers and the reasons for them it fails that litmus test miserably.
As for when a good time would be Im not entirely sure because I dont have access to the data and metrics Blizzard does. I can only tell you how I would do it which would be an 18 to 24 month cycle. Id offer one new PvE and PvP server per time zone which would be locked from incoming transfers. Id keep the BGs for them cross realmed with existing clusters and after that 18 or 24 months were up Id group them up with the appropriate cluster when the new round of fresh servers were coming online.
I think something along those lines would work out mostly fine for Era but that’s just guesswork. Its a pipe dream of mine but if we could somehow get Era back to 1.12 and on its own client in the process, I would be all in on the lobby campaign.
