They should just have one server of each type and at the end of every Classic the characters get transferred to the legacy servers and then restart it all over again.

So once naxx is released would the characters be taken off fresh servers and the servers will reset to mc/ony?

I would think they could do something like what happens at the end of a season on Diablo 3. Old characters go to a non seasonal server that combines all old servers, FRESH realms are for FRESH characters only.

I prefer merged over xrealm. At least you can guild with the others and the AH are connected.
