I am experiencing frequent disconnects from WOW. This is happening at least once an hour while playing, sometimes more. It has been happening since I started playing (2 weeks ago) and has been constant over the two weeks. I have a paid (not trial) account. It seems to be worse in dungeons although it does happen in world as well. The issue happens on multiple characters and on multiple realms. It happens whether I am playing in windowed or full screen mode. I am running a Windows 11 PC with high speed (900 megabits) wired connection. The issue occurs pretty much every time I run a dungeon at least once.
Disconnects take take one of two forms:
I get a message that says: You have been disconnected from the server. (WOW51900319)
OR
I will be mid playing and suddenly everything else (NPCs and players alike) will stop moving and I will be unable to cast spells / use abilities. The game will remain in this state until I close out and restart WOW.
Troubleshooting steps I’ve taken:
- Ran Scan and repair game
- Uninstalled and reinstall game
- Removed all addons
- Refreshed UI
- Verified drivers are up to date
- Verified windows is up to date
It doesn’t feel like the issue is on my side because I am able to play other games (e.g. Overwatch) without issue. I’ve also been live on a discord call with someone while both streaming wow to each other while the issue occurs. There is no interruption to the call nor the video stream when I am disconnected.
Any ideas or suggestions that might help me figure out what’s going on here?
Thank you!

Same here happening on my desktop after switching to AMD Graphic card. My laptop running on Nvidia and wifi does not have this problem.
Interesting. I am running an Nvidia graphics card but an AMD processor.
Have you been able to figure anything out to mitigate the disconnects? Does it seem more frequent in Dungeons for you?
Dont have any issue in dungeon. Sometimes screen will just not do anything. You can press mount up and animation is there but no mount. Sometimes is when using flight master and across maps and when mount about to land the mount just stuck to the flight master area with no alight. Still testing here and there. Not sure if its the internet connection as battlenet login also dc on and off when starting up.
I saw on some other threads that people recommended using winMTR to identify packet loss during an disconnect event. I’m on maybe my 5th disconnect in the last 2 hours and this was my WinMTR from the most recent one. 0% packet loss.
Any ideas of other things I can try to diagnose my issue? It is happening soooo much. If it wasn’t multiple times an hour I could live with it, but it is sooo frequent. There must be something going on, I just don’t know how to identify it.
Thank you in advance.

Sadly it does not help, as the IP your pinging is google it does not show your connection to the game servers, and those IP address are no longer listed in the support page.
I guess my thinking was it would at least establish that my internet is not the issue because I am not experiencing general packet loss. But admittedly i am not really a network person so I’m just kind of stabbing in the dark.
Is there anything else I can do to help identify the issue?
for the love of god has anyone figured out a solution? I get stuck on stationary flying mounts that hover above its landing spot but doesnt land, cant use spells/abilities/UI interface, cannot exit the game with escape. Must alt F4, to get out of WoW every time this happens. 5 out of 10 loading screens are an alt f4 as well… also direct x 12 is now glitching out my graphics
This has been happening to me as well and is brand new to this week. I did remove an addon earlier this week, but I don’t think that is related.
I have completely re-installed World of Warcraft twice, ensured my graphics drivers are up-to-date, disabled any firewalls, completely reset my router’s settings and restarted my modem several times, used WinMTR to ensure that the connection is stable, attempted without any addons and with my usual addons, and ensured all addons are as up-to-date as possible. I have checked any and all logs that are passively generated, and have found nothing of value.
I am at a loss. I don’t understand the root cause. I do very rarely have spikes in latency, but never full stops. When I do disconnect, it is sudden and without any latency. It generally occurs while in a dungeon, mid-fight, but has happened in the middle of Dornogal as well. It can happen up to 4-5 times a day. It also tends to occur after an hour of playing the game, never before.
I am not sure what else to test and/or disable/remove.

Your trace appears good, but to me might be the wrong server. Possibly the login server in LA. Hopefully just a temporary peer issue, might help to know what location you’re connecting from.
Just as of today I am getting repeatedly disconnected along with some major lag spikes.
My internet connection is good, and my spouse is online in another game with no issues; it seems to be just WoW that is misbehaving.
Oklahoma.
I switched from Dalaran to Proudmoore a few weeks ago, but didn’t have issues for the first two weeks, and now it’s pretty consistent this week.
I have not yet tested if this continues to happen on Dalaran, but I have no internet issues when the disconnects occur, so I assumed it was unrelated.
I have noticed, if I restart my game before every dungeon, I do not disconnect.
When I do a traceroute from my router to us.battle.net I am getting several request timed out messages between my ISP and one of their network suppliers (zayo). Going to call them tomorrow and see if this is something they can help troubleshoot.

I hope a Blue sees this soon, I opened a thread with the same issue last week this started happening after the update. It honestly has been such a chore to play and it looks like enough people are having the issue to receive some credit.
This forum is player-to-player troubleshooting. The blues who used to participate in tech support here are long gone.
Hey man. I’m also having this same issue and cannot for the life of me find the solution. Someone in game told me that I should try disabling IPv6 as it’s caused them issues in the past. I was wondering if you have tried this and if you have IPv6 enabled in both your WoW and network settings. I’m giving a shot now, but I’d love to compare notes with someone.
I had the disconnection issue for a long time, what fixed it for me was using a vpn. Hadn’t had another disconnect in a month. And I literally tried everything prior to that.
What VPN are you using, and any tips on specific settings you’ve found helpful?
I have been having the same issue and tried all the: no addons, repair game files, ininstall/reinstall avenues without success.
The one thing seems to help for me… actively reloading my interface every half hour (+/- 5-10 min). I can play over three hours uninterrupted this way, but if I forget for an hour or so I get DC’d.
