Frequent Disconnects / Game Crashes

@Elocin - So how does anyone get blizzard support when something isn’t working? It’s wild how quick everyone is to shut people down when they are looking for blizzard support but no one in the community has an answer to this issue nor a way to direct others to someone at blizzard who can help. This system feels very broken.

When it comes to disconnections, the extent of troubleshooting Blizzard provides these days is on this support article:

However, they still have network engineers monitoring the number of disconnections for any major problems.

Blizzard agents used to comb through diagnostic reports for technical and connection problems as a courtesy service, as if they were a PC and ISP help desk. That is a lot of extra work and other AAA gaming companies were not offering that. I believe this encouraged Blizzard to change their troubleshooting methods earlier this year to be more in line with those other companies.

Edit: The level of technical support was something that really set Blizzard apart, and it’s disappointing that they discontinued it. Most of the smart and talented technical support blues are also absent from all of the game title forums.

Thank you for sharing some of the background and context. I guess I am just a little bit surprised at how these issues aren’t entirely uncommon but that there isn’t a clear path to addressing or even diagnosing them. If I could point to my ISP and say this is being caused by you, even i they don’t fix it, then at least I would understand why there is a problem. We need a more robust knowledge base of common issues and troubleshooting techniques.

In other news, I restored my ASUS RT AX3000 routers to factory settings again (For the second time), and I haven’t had a disconnect since. I’ve put in an hour or two of game play since then. I am not confident the issue is fixed yet, but a hopeful start at least.

Bartook, have you ran a tracer route since resetting your router? I’m curious if you got different results that demonstrate the issue is fixed. I’ve been having the same issue for over a month now and I’m just trying to find any solution I can. I just ran a tracer from my PC to us.battle.net and I also had multiple request time outs.

So, I’ve done a couple of things at this point. We’ve had the ISP out twice. They replaced the box that comes into our house and they’ve also switched us to an entirely different network. The issues still persisted.

Then resetting my router to factory settings seemed to help some. I have only had 2 or maybe 3 disconnects today. They had previously been sometimes several in an hour.

To your question about tracert, The ISP said that isn’t something that would indicate an issue. I’ve seen other similar comments on reddit as well. And when I do a traceroute now, I am still seeing several request timed out lines, despite a significant improvement to my connection stability.

Depending on where you’re running a test to, that can be a sign of a problem or perfectly normal. In the case of battle.net, that’s a login server and it often rejects incoming requests.

I would ping Google or Cloudflare: 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1
