I discovered that I have 11 drivers that are not up to date and so far all of the driver updating programs I find say they are free, but then are not free. This is a pain that I can’t just update them with windows 11… Most of them require that I install the drivers manually which I have zero clue how to do. Does anyone know of quick and easy ways to detect outdated drivers and update them without hassle?
How did you discover you have 11 drivers out of date?
I installed one of the programs that scans for outdated drivers and then in order to update and install them it required that I do it manually or pay for the upgraded version which installs them for you automatically.
I’m not very computer savvy =(
99.9% of those are scams. Just saying.
Most of the time you don’t need to update your drivers and it may even throw things out of whack.
“driver update” programs are for scaring boomers, if a driver really needs updating Windows will tell you or even update it when it updates.
IE you’re fine.
Yeah you should probably make that go away
That program sounds like a scam don’t give it money or information.
Went to Windows site itself and it said
" Typically, you shouldn’t update your drivers unless you’re updating a graphics card
If your devices already work, a driver update could potentially break something in an unexpected way by making an untested change to your system. As the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
You should absolutely update drivers when driver updates are available; especially in a new operating system.
That said, you shouldn’t use an unknown 3rd party entity to notify you or install those drivers for you; go to the source location for the drivers (ie: the company that makes the product). There are some exceptions but mostly not anymore.
Already did that a good bit ago. I did some research prior to installing it. I know what to look for at least when installing programs that may or may not be safe.
My issue is that WoW has been experiencing lots of stutters and severe fps drops so bad that the game is unplayable. I flushed my dns, renewed my ip, reset my network/router and nothing is working so I was told drivers can be outdated.
You can launch Device Manager, right-click the device in question, select “Update Driver” and tell it to search online. If you don’t want to do that, Windows Update will handle most of them well enough.
If you absolutely must have the latest you basically have to manually install but either of those methods should keep you working.
Also, this:
Even if its not actually malware its at least bloatware.
Oh, no. Which one?
That’s most likely because of pre patch plus everyone coming back. Mine has been doing it, and I have an AMD graphic’s card with its drivers up to day. What kind of graphics card do you have if you know?
Indian accent “Hello this is John Wayne from the microsobt subbort, we are of be finding you have MANY WIRUS! You must to be getting apple I-tunes gift cards…”
That’s a scam OP don’t believe it. Type “Update” into your search bar at the lower left of your desktop (if you have windows 8, 10 or 11) and select “check for updates” and if it says you are up to date… you are up to date.
There have been so many scammers popping up left right and center, always ALWAYS verify before sending any money to anyone by googling “is ***** a scam?” and if need be please talk to a family member who is a bit more comfortable with computers to make sure nefarious jerks aren’t trying to take advantage of you.
You need to scan your computer for viruses and other malicious programmers immedietly. Only get your driver from the manufacturer.
The only driver that gamers generally care about updating is their GPU driver, for performance reasons. You can let Nvidia/AMD tools do that for you. Having outdated drivers otherwise if you are not experiencing any issues isn’t really that important.
and maybe sound
If it works it works.

Sort of like many free anti-virus programs. Sure, they remove virues, then put their own in the system. More or less.
