Pretty much guaranteed. All Blizzard is doing is giving players the option. So each player will have to make the right choice based on their playstyle.
I get errors that character has active auctions when they dont or simply that an error occurred and to try again later even though the gear icon appears saying transfer is processing.
this actually saved me and allowed me to transfer all my characters

a work-around for this has been posted many times, but i’ll post it again.
(poor dude is probably sick of getting notifications from all the linking)

Got an error not because of auctions. Just “an error occurred” now I see the gear icon pending and it says ETA 1 day…wtf?
Ah, I see people say it takes less time. I’m trying to transfer the rest of my chars now but I just get a shop loading message indefinitely.
For those having issues with the message “auctions on this character” while trying.
Prompt a paid transfer - until the payment step. DO NOT PAY! Cancel it. Then go back to the Free Character Transfer. You will still get an error message (not the auction one), BUT it will continue this time and the icon for the transfer is there.
(I did this on my EU chars and despite the error message “an error was encountered” they still transferred to their destination).

Gonna be mad if my realm starts getting queues because of this.
EXTREMELY unlikely, given the disparity between how huge A52 and Illidan are compared to other servers.

Thanks and yeah I empathize but it’s part of his job. And the way the forums are, I am not sifting through 300+ posts let’s say.
Is there a list of these realms posted anywhere?
All 40+ of my Area 52 characters were able to successfully be transferred to Bleeding Hollow, so the workaround does work if you get the auction error message.
It took about 10 hours for them all to finish transferring successfully.

You can go anywhere you want except for like 5 servers which are always full
Wow, 40 characters? I only transferred four and it took me 10 minutes just to get through the screens with all of them.
How long did it take to initiate all 40?
