-The majority of us don’t read the forums. Let alone look for a blue post that was buried.
Our guild is split between Skeram & Sulfuras. We both want to move to Earthfury but unfortunately only Skeram was allowed to move to Earthfury with Sulfuras to move to Heartseeker.
What doesn’t make sense is that Sulfuras was the back up PvP East server to Skeram so it’s obvious friends/guilds would be split between those 2 servers. So why have them transfer to separate servers?
Either way, it’s time for Blizzard to open up free transfers from ANY high pop server to ANY lower populated server. Then they’ll see some traction with more people moving which will help with server balance and allow them to remove all layers much earlier without as many issues.
The forums weren’t the only place that made this info available. Even then, if you didn’t see the SERVER MIGRATION AVAILABLE button right there in game and think “Hm…maybe this warrants examination” then that’s on you. Adults shouldn’t need to have their hands held like this.
Just for one day even. We should have at least had clear notice that it was closing.
I am honestly more frustrated at the ones that did transfer and then proceeded to whine about it being dead in the first 24 hours of open transfers. That I’m sure deterred people initially thus prompting people to hold off. At least there are people that Want to transfer now that they see its not dead and all the servers needed was those willing to make the jump.
Where else was this information available besides in a blue post? In the log in screen? In the queue?
I’m not suggesting it is not our fault for not transferring while available, i’m suggesting that the abrupt end with no warning, along with the other circumstances (i was unable to wait for 3 hours for the queue to pop to clean out my mailbox in order to initiate the transfer) warrants some consideration. I imagine half of these posts would not be here if in the queue they put “free transfers end at 11am cst”. Many of us don’t put this game as a priority in our lives and don’t have the time to look up the forums, let alone wait in queue for 3 anytime between 3pm and midnight just to log on.
I also was completely unaware of the server transfers ending and was planning to transfer today, pretty disappointed there wasn’t more visibility in when these were ending. I consider myself pretty in the know with blue posts and did not see anything about server transfers from skeram to earthfury having an end date.
Crossing my fingers that Blizzard listens to all of us. I’ve rerolled several times already due to server issues, and just can’t do the early level grind again.
Now I’m stuck on a server with a queue in the thousands, that unbeknownst to me at the time of rolling has a severe H:A ratio, making it next-to-impossible to even find/form groups on Alliance as a tank/healer, even though it’s a Full server… to say nothing of the sea of Horde making a decent WPvP experience a dream.
I’d planned to transfer to Earthfury for days, waiting on friends who rolled with me to log-in, so as not to disrespect their time investment. After all, I managed to get few enough friends to roll with me at all during all the server chaos of launch. Didn’t even know about the end date until I decided to dig for it… an hour before it happened to end, when even my friends who were more active and willing to transfer were at work, being early afternoon.
Please reopen the program for a little bit. My enjoyment of Classic on Alliance quite literally depends on it.
They’ll probably keep giving us free transfers every weekend until all the realm populations are balanced.
Huge huge huge bump. Been trying to coordinate with some friends for the move and wasn’t able to complete it in time.
They gave you a week and notice of when it would open/close, m8.
Make a guild message and give the info. Whoever doesn’t make it has to take some form of accountability.
RIP
They did…
How exactly does extending the transfers hurt you? I’m curious as right now most of the servers that people were transferring to have low populations now, and the servers that people were transferring from have queues still. It’s clear based on the response here plus others I have spoken with, not everyone was as “informed” as we could / should have been on them ending.
I actually had planned to transfer last night, and when I logged on to a 45 minute queue, and the button was gone, it’s what got me to come here looking for answers. So sure, it’s technically our faults, but again, how does extending the transfers hurt you? As otherwise, extending them only helps both the servers with queues and the servers that were open from transfer.
Personal opinion: As long as there is a queue present, there should be an option to move for at least a month.
The transfer option pop up should display the end date as well.
I don’t know why they chose to do it the way they did, but only a small portion of the community uses the forum so it’ll be easy to miss the fine print.
Also opinion, go ahead and open paid transfers, yes they existed in vanilla. But block out the servers that hit full as a destination option.
It doesn’t hurt me, but acting like they didn’t give you guys clear cut dates on when it was opening and closing is childish.
IMHO, the only thing childish is your responses that serve no real purpose other than to show your moral superiority and insult those of us who didn’t think we needed to come to the forums to look for a blue post that might contain when these transfers would end. But thanks for letting us know where you stand on the issue.
I canceled my subscription as it is clear whomever is making these decisions regarding realms and transfers is tone deaf and has very poor planning skills.
- Let’s open minimal realms because we think nobody will play!
- Let’s open minimal additional realms when we realize so many people want to play, but let’s not open them until launch day!!
- Let’s have transfers but not tell anyone on the main login page!
- Let’s have transfers but transfer everyone to a brand new server which doesn’t sound appetizing!
- Let’s close transfers in the early afternoon and screw all the people that work!
- Let’s have the mail requirement (which I understand) but you can’t check mail until you sit through a five hour queue!
Number 6 is the killer for a lot of us.
I’m not attacking you, m8. Just saying you guys poorly planned. Aside from the blue post there were:
- articles written on the server transfer
- videos made re: the server transfer
- posts on reddit and online re: the server transfer
- discord posts about the server transfer
- people on your own server talking about the transfer
Stop making me defend blizzard.
Keep up the strawman argument. No one is saying they literally “did not give clear cut dates.” We’re pointing out the obvious fact that the dates were relegated to a buried blue post on the forums, no where to be seen in the actual client, where 99% of people learned about and underwent transfers.
That’s insufficient communication, clearly, seeing as how there are so many people in here who were caught unawares, even among those who do regularly browse the forum.
Those things you just listed? None of those are additional official avenues of communication, ergo they’re immaterial to this argument.
