Free 43" TV or $450 55" better model?

yo yo

Got a deal from my ISP … free samsung ru7100 43" or $350 towards another TV (limited choices)

Right now its either free TV, or 450 for a 55 RU8000. Better in tv in general but especially for gaming which matters to me. I use PC and occasionally ps4 (bought it for bloodborne…i dont use it much tbh)

I typically say, if youre gonna spend money for something, might as well spend a little more to get the longevity and satisfaction out of it

but this time the cheaper option is free haha. lol i dont know why but im feeling guilty somehow about buying a big ole tv when i can get one free haha.

Help this man decide!

Thanks

If you don’t use the TV that much, go for the free model. It’ll be less of a hassle probably.

If you use your TV a lot and/or you have the free change to pay the $450 difference for the higher model, then sure I guess. But it’s not really worth $450 over the free model, as it doesn’t offer that much of an improvement(apart from things like freesync and such). Apart from freesync, the RU8000 series doesn’t really seem that great of a value. That series is sort of in the awkward area, where some other brands offer better overall value, and where there are better TVs for a bit more.

You have to decide whether the extra $450 you’d spend on the slightly better TV is worth it, and whether you’d get more enjoyment out of other things you could’ve purchased instead for that price.

If you need the extra features, the size(I’d suggest measuring out the listed dimensions to see what you’d rather prefer), and you just have the extra money layering around, then go ahead. But, if those things listed above don’t really change much for you, or you’d be using money that you’d use for other things that would make a bigger difference, then you should just keep the free one.

It’s easy to get caught up in the whole ‘buy the biggest baddest thing I can’, but then you get it and barely use it lol. So use your judgement based on your situation. It also kind of depends on what you’re using now, because if you’re using some kind of 70 inch older TV right now, and downgrade to the 43, then it’s surely going to be weird, but if you’re going up in size, then whatever.

You’re basically just choosing between size and freesync/120 Hz for $450. Whether it’s worth it, is up to you and your situation. If it were me personally, I wouldn’t upgrade, but I don’t game on a TV, nor do I really use my TV much, just a few hours a week. I also don’t sit very far from it either, so I wouldn’t need a giant 55 inch in my face :).

Also, you have to consider if you’d see yourself upgrading the TV(RU7100) in the future for 120 Hz/freesync and/or size, if so, then sure.

I use a 43 inch TV for 4k gaming due to having consoles as well (Gamecube, Wii U and Switch)

to me, 43 inch is the perfect size for 4k, anything more its more difficult to have everything seen within your eye vision

I showed my setup with the 4k TV awhile back

except now I don’t have that TV anymore, I use a Philips android TV (Philips 5604 series)

btw, Android TV is much better than a regular smart Tv imo

maybe you can put $350 on a bigger android TV if they give you the option, should you want to try android TVs?

If I’m thinking of the right promotion, then the OP doesn’t really have the option to do that. The promotion that I think it is, only lets you apply the $350 towards other Samsung TVs.

If this is not the case, OP should clarify.

Yeah that’s got to be the promotion, oh well Samsung doesn’t do Android TVs

If that’s the case he should try consider a nicer quality TV since that model those TV’s come in “brown boxes”, hence why it’s free
