FPS problems unacceptable (Solved)

Almost everyone with a decent enough rig to have held a solid framerate be it 60 fps or 200 fps prior to to pre-patch are now experiencing massive stutter and FPS drops as new assets are loaded in.

No acknowledgement from the devs during beta, and now the game has gone live in this broken state.

I will not edit the game files or download any addons to “fix” the problems of this game.

I will not purchase Dragonflight or renew my sub until its resolved. Absolutely absurd.

Blizzard. FIX YOUR GAME.

What addons are you running?

None. Zero. It’s not addons. It’s not corrupted files. Everything has been tried.

I’m also getting stuttering both on beta and now live since pre patch.

I run on ultra all settings and normally running 180-200 fps if i enable ray traced shadows on high which i normally do i run 75-80 fps in stormwind and higher out in the world.

My FPS has only dropped slightly maybe 5 or 7 fps but even if i turn ray trace shadows off im still at 180 fps on average but still getting stuttering like mad in all sorts of places not just cities.

I only run DBM and Tom Tom at the moment but have tried disabling and does nothing.

Most people are having the exact same issue.

No matter what I do to my graohics settings, my card is always running hot now with full fans going. It’s never done that before.

I didn’t do any of that.

I went into graphics and adjusted my foreground and background fps limits. I’ve had zero issues with stuttering since.

foreground locked at 80 ( which is more than perfect) and background at 60 I believe.

No issues.

Probably have framerate uncapped, cap it to 60 or 120 or whatever you play at.

It’s not corrupted files, it’s the new caching system they implemented, you can disable it until they improve the performance of it (I didn’t have the suttering in Beta, but for whatever reason it’s persistent in the pre-patch with stuttering). I’ll look for the command as I don’t have it saved

Nope. Framerates are capped at 60.

Ooh thanks

It’s because with the update, every user is allotting graphics card power to mine bit coin…:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

They made changes so that a nearly 20 year old game can keep up with quickly evolving technology. You could literally do a /console command and have it fixed yourself until blizz patches it. Kinda silly to get this mad over something that takes you 2 seconds to fix.

/console SET GxAllowCachelessShaderMode “0”

You can also uncheck the background fps and target fps to fix it further.

The changes they made are so the game relies more upon your vram now instead of your cpu.

There is a fix for it. I seen it on WoWReddit last nignt. It works. You type in a console command thats set to 0 instead of “1”. It fixes the issue.

Wish i copied and pasted it somewhere.

Yeah this has been thrown around on the support forum as an anecdotal “fix”. It’s not an acceptable troubleshoot.

remember the BFA spots where 150FPS would drop to like 14FPS ?

Fun fact: not everyone knew this existed. Thanks for posting it!

Found it. https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/ye282w/huge_fps_drops_fix/

/console GxAllowCachelessShaderMode 0

/reload

Mind you the caching system is great for slower systems, but as it stands somethings is messed up on their end when theres a large number of players on screen and probably why it wasn’t picked up on the PTR.
