Fps drop/Jittering when I turn in a quest for gear or get achievements

I’ve been having this issue ever since pre-patch hit. When I turn in a quest for gear or get a achievement my fps drops for a split second then goes back to normal.

I saw a post from 2019 that had a similar issue and I also saw this on a few peoples games while they streamed. Here is the post I was talking about Lag/Jittering with every quest hand-in/Level up

I have a 2070 super, i7-9700KF, and 32 GB of ram. I can run the game on max settings at 1920x1080p at 60 fps with no problems besides the jittering/fps drop when receiving gear or getting a achievement. I have checked background processes and my drivers are up to date. I also disabled my addons and that didn’t help.

There are many addon issues that will cause stuttering and framerate drops; simply shutting off your addons will not remove any of that corruption. I’m even further inclined to blame an addon, if your issues are only happening when looting or earning an achievement. This would indicate some tracking addon (bag addon, achievement addon, etc.) possibly causing the issue.

You’ll want to first try a full UI reset, which is simple compared to delving into video card problems and driver issues and the like.

If it doesn’t fix anything, simply name the folders back to their original names, no harm done. It’s worth a try considering it will take only 2 minutes to see if the UI is your issue:

Edit: I know that thread you linked is a thousand responses, but there are fixes in there. I scanned halfway through and found people responding positively to fix which involved changing the read-only status of a log file:

Only addon I have installed is TRP3 but i’ll give it a try.

OK, cool. Check my edit, too.

It’s worth noting that particular issue was marked as resolved some fourteen months ago. I know that’s really not relevant - you are still having an issue - but I’d take all the frustration at the beginning of that thread with a grain of salt. By the end of the thread, folks seem satisfied that the issue was fixed.

You may be having a different issue that needs a different bug thread and different trouble-shooting.

Didn’t help, still happens when I did what you said to do above. It’s not game breaking it’s just annoying when I get a new piece of gear of get a achievement and my game stutters for a sec.

Did you try changing the properties of that log file to read-only?

Yeah didn’t do anything. It still stutters when I complete a quest and get new gear.

Hmm, I am sorry about that. :worried:

Hopefully one of the folks that has more expertise on looking at DXdiags and such will chime in for more help.

In the meantime, you might copy your post to bug report so it will be brought to the appropriate person’s attention.

Best of luck, I hope it gets resolved.

Thanks for the help.

Edit: I tried the ingame command from that bliz support post under the advanced troubleshooting and it seems to have worked for the most part of it. If I encounter this again I might just do a clean install of the game and graphics drivers to see if that helps. Thanks again!

what is the in game command cause im having same issues.

/console cvar_default It will reset a lot of settings so you will have to redo them. It fixed the fps drop I got when I got achievements but I still have a small stutter not super bad when I get new gear.
Edit: Now that I see it’s not just me I am going to put in a bug report with this forum link with it, maybe others have the same issues as well.

thank you,i have alot of stutter ive done everything,I reset my Ui and cleared cache awile ago but how many times do you have to do that is it one time or all the time?

Well this fix resets all the games values back to default so if you ever had any addons in the past that changes these values or do currently it sets everything back to normal. It can fix a lot of UI and screen issues but I only did it once and my stutter from getting achievements are gone. Wont know if it fixed the harder stutter from getting gear until I do more questing or run some dungeons/raids. Doesn’t seem to break the only addon I have installed either.

I didn’t do the command I was going to but I thought I would try something else first I turned off all of my addons and stutter was gone I update them all the time I don’t know which one is the problem though and some of them make the game play better so I don’t know where to go from here but I know I can’t stand that stutter.

Disable one at a time and see which one is causing the issue, all I can say. I don’t stutter in normal game play just when I get new gear or get achievements. Check to see if you drivers are up to date, you be surprised what random driver out of date can do to games.

Ok tyvm thank you for time.
