So for the past few months I’ve been getting random stutters or really bad FPS lag, even though I exceed all the requirements for the game by a wide margin.
During the most recent lagfest I was having I went into Task Manager and scrolled down to “background processes” to see what was running and sure enough a 2nd copy of WoW was open, not the “World of Warcraft Voice Proxy” but a copy of WoW. I didn’t open two.
What’s happening, and I’ve tested this with the same results, is that when you close World of Warcraft it doesn’t actually fully close. It sits in “Background Processes” and hogs extra resources.
Did a clean install, same results, no mods, etc.
Windows 11, fully updated.
If you’re getting FPS lag, hit control+shift+escape, and kill that Background process copy of WoW.
Yeah after the 12.0.5 patch while in the world I am experiencing stutter/lag as i fly or just sit… it is constant. In m+12s I have total lag spikes during heavy combat lasting 10-20 seconds. I often run 1-3 accounts in the world at once. After the 12.0.1 patch (the previous patch) I noticed that after I exit game there is always 1-3 copies of wow running in Task Manager that I have to ‘end task’ (depending on how many accounts were running). Also after the 12.0.1 patch my cursor locks to the wow window even though I have the ‘lock to window"‘ DISABLED and the only way to unfreeze the cursor so I can watch youtube, edit a document, access discord or any other thing besides the wow window is to do Cntrl-Alt-Delete and click on Task Manager. My computer is a beast/ overpowered for running wow. I have no idea how to fix any of these issues. What is going on?
