Forum trust

…so, just so im clear here.

Gaining trust privelages is character specific, posts viewed/made, likes given/recieved

But losing trust is account based.

That seems pretty lopsided

I guess it depends on what you mean by ‘losing trust’.

The only thing that would be account-based would be the following:

My understanding is that it can be earned back too. Just that a suspension (forum or in-game) would reset everything.

Otherwise, it’s very much character specific. If you achieve TL3, then you have to maintain it on that same character by reading posts etc.

If your account demonstrates to Blizzard that you’re not trustworthy, why do feel they should allow you to start over with a new character and just do it all over again?

This isn’t about “fair” or anything of the sort. It’s about can we show we’re upstanding members of a community that can be allowed to post links to literally anything on the Internet. That encompasses a lot of things that really shouldn’t be posted here. The stepping stones to 3 show that we’re here a lot, we contribute to the forums, and that we tend not to do bad things.

although i dont disagree.

i received bans for “trolling” in posts that had titles and content around “you lick the forums poster” and “post you slutty mogs” ( i posted a gif of my characters mog dancing… i’d wager a fair bit if the character was a fem draenei and not a male gnome the would not have been actioned)

nothing i said was by any stretch ‘trolling’ … and tame in the context of the threads themselves.

if i was going out of my way to derail serious discussion or making post out of taste or out of context of the thread i’d understand.

i tried ticketing these things but never got a response, and i’d wager they were from automated systems and theres no way i should get banned for using a certain word when there are posters who use said word as they’re posting toons name.

it doesnt help that it seems more offensive posts get a moderator coming in to remove any offending words, but you make a joke about licking someone in a thread about licking people you get that post deleted and banned… “lick yourself upon my body”… theres nothing offensive in that, and if it is offensive, then why leave the rest of the thread unactioned.

but if the actions against posting are going to be account wide, it seems only fair that the bonuses to gaining trust are account wide also.

The only thing that is “automated” is the squelch system (not the Silence) in-game. All account actions are done by a person. All reviews are done by a different person. A form-letter does not indicate automation. They are used so that all players are given the same information.

If you think a thread is inappropriate, report it. Don’t post in it.

Again, it’s not about “fair.”

It’s if you do something egregious, you’re likely to do that again.

I do believe they’re working on making more things account wide. These forums are constantly getting updated and we’ll see it evolve over time.

Due to the general nature of the forum code of conduct; you will have to be extremely cautious on what you type especially if you are the kind that likes to use silly metaphors, sarcasm, etc. as you can just get unlucky even if you were just joking around.

Unfortunately most here in this channel will disagree with that for their own reasons; it’s a reality based on my experience and observations from other poster’s contributions.

Take care

I didnt think the thread was inappropriate … It was a fun jokey thread…

My point is my post was deleted and actioned for trolling… Despite being perfectlty in context with the thread… So if my post is trolling, the thread is trolling.

Its blizzards sandbox we may think somethings apropriate but others may not and when a post gets reported it will be investigated and actioned if blizzard deems it necessary, in this case blizzard felt it was inapropriate you have 2 choices either apeal or move on.

It doesn’t matter if your post were in context with the thread. If something breaks the rules, it doesn’t make it better because others want to join in and break the forum rules as well.

We’re starting to stray here, so I think it’s best that we lock this up.
