Forum Trust Ranking

Hey There,

I put this in website issues a few weeks back but no reply or no change.

The Issue:
I run a Mythic Raiding guild that’s operated for 14 years in WoW, over the years we’ve had a small handful of GM’s, Raid Leaders and Officers who have owned the recruitment side of our guild. I have played Wow since Vanilla Beta in Europe and then transferred to OCE realms on a new account 10 years ago.

I’ve used the forums on and off for 20 years with no warnings, bans or any other issues.

As of 6 weeks ago I am unable to edit or create a new recruitment post with Links in it due to my Forum Trust level of ‘Member’ and having researched this it states to get a higher trust level I need to post more here.

So we cannot update Discord or Recruitment form links in our post and we’re getting people contacting us stating the links are wrong.

We use Raider IO and Warcraft Logs also to help with recruitment but one of our more consistent hits was from our Wow Forum post. We dont post regularly on them, and we never will, simply we dont have time to run guilds, plan Mythic raids, manage all the rosters/strats and then post in our class forums about how great our classes are (lets face it people never post about good stuff in them).

But we need to be able to reach the community with the correct information.

Can you have a look into our ‘trust ranks’ and I’m sure we’re not the only players here who are having trouble who have such an extensive history within this game that spans over 2 decades… then the forums tell us - yeah you dont have enough worth to post content… it leaves a bitter taste.

Edit - lol even when posting this I got an error stating I’m not allowed links in my posts because a I put a . before the IO. Case & point right there.

You more then likely need a couple thousand posts read adn likes. Also you woudnt get a response from the bug report forums its a one way street. A blue can narrow it down a bit but it will take some time and a full day to get lvl 3 again.

The Forums run off of Discourse software now, which have Trust Levels. More about how the Trust Levels work can be found in the links below.

I think a point was missed:

We have a post up with links in it, made by myself… So 5 months ago I was trusted enough, and I have done nothing to lose that trust…

Now the links are bad, and need updating… we need to update the main body of copy for TWW and progress…

I cannot update a single letter in the original post, I cannot create a new post.

So where has my trust gone?

Eradicated if you had it previously under a beta test grant. This was done a little while ago which has also hit me - I can’t post links anymore either.

In addition to what Forumcat said, Trust Level must be maintained. It decays every 100 days.

I dont understand why this change was made as it punishes players in my situation:

TRUST LEVEL 3

Get to trust level 3 by…

  • Must have visited at least 50% of last 100 days
  • Must have replied to at least 10 different topics
  • Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 500 topics
  • Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 20,000 posts (both starting posts and replies)
  • Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.
  • Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
  • Must not have been suspended (including forum suspensions or in-game account actions of any Blizzard game)

Trust Level 3 users can

  • Create Wiki Posts (more on that below)
  • Post animated gifs, images, compatible video embeds, and links to any website

I have a full time job, 2 kids and a wife. For me to achieve the above I’d have to give up on one of those.

So Blizzard will you take my kids 3.5 days a week so I can continue to hit your ridiculous parameters to do something I was doing 6 months ago?

Maintenance of the 20k “read” posts is 200 posts “read” a day. I emphasize “read” because you aren’t required to actually read the posts – just merely stay long enough at them for the blue dot :large_blue_circle: to disappear and the software to mark it as read.

Some people like to hit the mega threads and scroll through those to hit more at once. But be aware that only posts created in the prior 100 days of you viewing them will count.

Personally, I just hit large threads occasionally, I prefer smaller threads (and lots of them) so that I can cover the 500 topics viewed requirement as well.

If I do wander into a large thread, I just use a browser extension to autoscroll at a slow speed while I am not at the computer.

So what is the issue with me editing a post that’s already been created months ago?

Like I cannot edit my guild post without removing all links whilst 1 is still valid, so my guild will forever be 6/9m Amirdrassil and not reflective of what we actually were… and then when new content comes out we’ll still be recruiting Tanks for Amirdrassil when we need DPS for something in 3 raids time.

It’s an extremely broken system thats unrealistic to maintain.

Theres 2 solutions:

  1. Make a better guild finder in game to help with recruitment
  2. allow us to edit existing posts

Both of ur suggestions wont be heard here u need to post in the bug site report feature if u want a suggestion you wont get a reponse but it will be read.

That is correct, though there is a work around. The New Forum guide posted by Kyzera above shows how to post links if you lack the trust level to do so. You want the section about code lines.

Posting a Code Line

Other users can copy and paste it.

Until Trust Level 3 is re-earned, that’s your only solution at the moment.

an inconvenience is not “punishment”.

It is a punishment when something is taken away from you for no reason that then causes additional stresses and further time and effort needed to have a consistent raid comp - you’ve obviously never been in a situation where you’re managing a roster.

It really isn’t, the forum devs fixed a bug that had folks perma level 3 trust. Now everyone will need to have to spend time to earn and keep it if they want it. Using the forums ain’t a requirement to play the game and you can put links using the `. All you’d lose out on is the preview of them.

it was only “taken away” because you didn’t meet the requirements.

This. Many of us were given the trust level for a beta. It should have been removed after the beta, but never was. They fixed this bug a few months ago. Now everyone is treated the same. This is a shocker to those that didn’t realize the trust level requirements, but it’s not a punishment.

If you want to suggest changes, this isn’t the place. There are no decision makers in this area of the forums, and nothing anyone can do here.
