The forum does need a revamp. The original forum was much better. It had a limit so these 1000+ threads don’t happen. When you reported someone, you had to type out an explanation vs people false flagging posts like a disagree button.
I disagree on the karma system. Ben Eisenkop is a good reason.
id think the reason for that is the folks in charge dont really do much about the REAL toxicity in here and players who do wander in get turned off pretty quick.
Ive seen first time posters come in here to ask questions and get trolled hard by a certain group and I never saw the poster again.
Until moderation starts putting an end to the abusive behaviors in here, this forum will never see the interaction it could
Just let GD be GD (GENERAL discussion), it’s too late to build something serious here. “Feedback” would be a cesspool all the same, and “information” would be dead, your thumbs are enough to count the semi-educated official MMO forums. An idea is “good” only to people who think it is, nothings prevents them from thinking it is, and from discussing it, threads are 404d only if they break the rules.
There are just no people in charge anymore, you can’t rely on any moderation but yours. I got a thread immediatly deleted and an 8 hours lock because I used a bad word (lol) with S and T, but you can still insult and harass somebody for just saying they have a hard time killing a boss, there’s nothing to hope for and work on here.
It’s even more dubious then, when tools are promoted to silence people, because they kinda silenced you. Account-wide ignore and impossibility to hide any of your activity / profile is enough, go on with your life. It’s fun and comforting to see some forum lords talking to the wind, and a huge satisfaction to hit activity/ignore. After a decade lurking here without being able to intervene, it’s even addictive tbh.
And don’t look at me as a “lvl 10 alt”, EU forums are just less entertaining, less informative even =)
I just want the forums to be a place where the devs players and wannabe players can coexist with as little toxicity and spam as possible so that wow improves and grows
I used to be opposed to this idea, but I’ve come full circle on it. I would say, at this point, there’s not really a defense against going to it.
I’ve always read more than posted, but allowing cowardly sniping actually ruins discourse. The game in it’s current state actually really needs to be discussed for it’s continued health, course correction, etc.
Anonymous trolls don’t serve any purpose, and continue to degrade conversation.
No, it’s not. But my point still remains that for some people who multibox, they’ll just log onto a different account once they realize you’re blocked. I know the number of people isn’t ginormous, but there are people who own several accounts.
Funny anecdote about that, a guy in my guild has a bunch and he’s one of those guys who complains about bills.
Idk if it would result in filtering out what you perceive to be bad but I think it would help keep people from being suckered into pointless debates with troll alts that don’t actually believe what they are saying and are there for the express purpose of upsetting people.
I didn’t mean that we shouldn’t improve it. I’m all for improvement. I’m just saying that multiboxers are looking at these threads like this and giggling to themselves.
I like that you are open about your trolling , it lets me know that I am going to read at my own risk. If I read and become offended I report myself for self-inflicted trollation.
