It’s been many years of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Simply put, having a Tyrannical affix makes the dungeons really hard to balance and causes people to not want to play during Tyrannical week.
Adding a Tyrannical score just forces people to do stuff they don’t want to do.
How about something like the fated affixes instead? A couple minor extra mechanics on rotation that give a boost when done successfully, per boss
Edit: For those of you that think I’m asking for something easier, I’m not. The same thing would be accomplished by turning on both Fortified and Tyrannical for every dungeon.
I don’t think either affix is bad, just boring now.
I wouldn’t mind a week where it was just something other than those 2. Normal trash and boss health, but something else happens. No clue what either which is the hard part.
The point of those affixes is to make the dungeons feel different from week to week, which they do. Are they kind of boring? Sure, but they fulfill their purpose and now they feel about the same in terms of difficulty, so it’s fine.
Agreed, the affix can be in a rotation but having either or permanent is not fun at all.
Also what? make the dungeon different from week to week? The other affixes do that, you can scale the dungeons higher by removing Fort and Tyranical systematically applying to every week, and just get more imaginative affixes.
Tyrannical has been nerfed since launch. It’s currently a non-issue. The only players who struggle on tyrannical are the ones who don’t actually understand the mechanics.
The Seasonal Affixes are what provides a buff when done properly so there already is one. Good routes get more buffs.
Put the seasonal affix as the +2 affix so each and every key has it and is a kiss/curse style power. Move Fort/Tyr to +20 and above keys where Blizzard can use them to better gatekeep or otherwise hinder people pushing at the prestige levels.
Add affixes to the +15 from the regular pool. Dungeons already have trash and boss scaling from keys naturally and are more mechanically challenging with more affixes in play each week and just make brute force damage dealing sponges a thing only the prestige level players can deal with.
Fortified is boring and outdated. During that Castle Nathria charity stream there was a punishment where six players needed to play in first-person mode. Replace fortified with that. Every other week players will need to play M+ in first person mode.
As the dungeons are currently they require our healers to be super-human on tyran, not just “know the mechanics”. In particular this week both the first boss in Workshop, last 2 bosses in Iron Docks, and 2nd boss in Upper have been me using all of my defensives, following all mechanics and still dying to unavoidable stuff because the damage output is just more than the healer can handle
My death logs show no avoidable damage. “/eh list” shows no avoidable damage damage taken. Still dying over and over, because too much is expected from the healer on some of these dungeons
On the same level key, fort, they have no problems. This is a major balance issue because the skill level a healer has to have varies so much between these two affixes
Because on fort, the bosses are effectively nerfed. How about we just have bosses feel like bosses, and trash feel like trash?
Edit: one other thing, I don’t think the very top of the world’s M+ players are an accurate representation of what goes on in say … a 23 which is SO much easier. In a 32 you do have a super-human of a healer (and everyone is using the dwarf racial etc). In a regular guild or pug key this is not practical
This statement is unbased. You don’t need exceptional healers to do Tyrannical anymore than on Fortified. What you need are group members not getting hit by mechanics and using defensives at the appropriate times.
I can guarantee you that people don’t understand Flame Vents and are taking a lot more damage than they need to.
Are people AoE stunning the Wolves? They die very easily. As for the last boss, again, people need to use defensives and if groups are struggling then I bet people are stacking too closely for the cannon.
That’s interesting because I have attempted Upper +22 twice this week and Medivh is not the struggle boss.
Then how are people timing +30s on Tyrannnical especially if dungeons scale exponentially?

Tyrannical shows the cracks and the gaps in player knowledge in terms of mechanics and their class.
remove both and equalize it by buffing both bosses and trash and then you got a new affix slot to play with! impress me.
*theyll never do it now that they split the score in a way where you gotta do both weeks for score. they locked themselves with this since it gives the illusion of having more things to do.
I’m aware but people doing +20/21 keys are doing it for purely prestige. They can handle the difficulty spike. Back in Legion, doing the +10 was part of the initial grinding curve.
Seasonal affixes and their affect on the flow of the dungeon is precisely why it needs to be on keys from the start. All it does is make keys without it far less desirable and even +8 or +9 keys objectively harder since the lack of the seasonal perk vs the relative minor difference in scaling between key levels.
Someone who is doing a low key is likely not geared or familiar with the dungeon, and drastically changing a dungeon that they just started learning in heroic and m0 is not a good idea. The current system allows them to get used to the dungeon and slowly adds affixes. Low keys with no affix let’s players crawl before they run.
