Forsaken Starting Overhaul

Forsaken have had their current lore situation changed up quite a lot. They lost the Val’kyr so it’s kinda up in the air as to how they replenish their numbers.

The undercity was lost, and now they’re settling in the Capital city above.

I’m willing to bet that here in the next expac or so we’re going to get an overhaul to their starting zone, as well as Worgen, and potentially Night Elves.

Personally I’d love a dungeon where we go into the Undercity and clear out the blight monsters and whatnot. I think that could be cool.

I’d also be willing to bet the forsaken will get a heritage armor set themed around the Grand Apothecary Society.

Opinions? Thoughts?

Desolate content might be coming soon. Maybe something related to the Brackenhide rot?

It is time for the Forsaken starting zone to get a revamp and there two options Blizz could use.

One, have Calia be in charge of resurrecting the newly dead. Or borrowing some Maldraxxas necromancers/tech to resurrect more Forsaken.

If going for the Calia option then there’s the chance of getting more Light Born Undead or Blizz could just treat her raising the Undead like a player character’s priest resurrecting another player.

they probably don’t, so cataclysm starting has to stay.

Like, you probably shouldn’t touch starting scenarios at all, you can’t redo death knights, worgens, pandarens. Option to skip or pick alternative - we already have that with noob island

Pretty sure our allies in Maldraxxus know how to raise the undead.

Allies as in they are willing to help with our plights as they did to help cleanse the blight in Tirisfal, not that they are Horde.

Still weird that we just spent time going in-between the living and dead realms with seemingly no issues.

Ohhh I never saw this, how awesome do they look :dracthyr_heart:

They typically don’t revamp areas to reflect new lore unless new content is taking place in that area that necessitates that reflection, since the areas themselves are in time bubbles. Everything in WoW is in a time bubble from the period in which it was added/last relevant.

You beat me to this

Maybe we’ll go back to the ‘undeath is a curse that shouldnt be spread’ mindset we had from WC3 to WotLK that we never should have abandoned.

If Allied races are still a thing then both ways could exist. Calia for Lightborn, Maldraxxas for regular Forsaken.

The lore either dying or getting a needed boost.

Calia and the Council are leading in a direction to keep us going, it’s right there in the quest chain.

Apparently the more time that passes in-universe the more difficult it becomes to reach the shadowlands, at least. This is said when we go back to Ardenweald during the green dragonflight quest line. We might get to the point where it’s no longer viable at all, although I’m sure there will always be certain “backdoors” that could be used without much strain on the lore.

The Maldraxxi in particular seem to not have any trouble sending soldiers to the “physical plane” even before somebody broke the sky open, so I imagine even if the portals to SL degrade they’d still be able to send a lich or two to help out the Forsaken.

Hopefully it doesn’t trigger the blood elves too much :smirk:

There are no Val’kyr in the Forsaken starting zone. That happens in Silverpine Forest. And actually, I don’t think all old content should be fully retconned every time Danuser has a fever dream.

I was pretty sure that was wrong, so I checked the Forsaken rogue I made but hadn’t logged into yet.

This is the first thing you see on a new Forsaken:

You beat me to it lol, I was midway through logging in on a new char I created just to get a pic of Agatha.

And while we’re on the subject, new content is not a retcon. People really need to learn what that term means.

I have a number of Forsaken rolled during MoP. I don’t remember that. Maybe playing classic since those starting zones has affected my memory.

Going back and rewriting the entire story in all old zones to align it with subsequent content is indeed a retcon. It’s one we have seen requested in the forums.

I’d be fine with them removing the Val’kyr from the Forsaken starting zone and reverting to the original cleric. Replacing that cleric who introduced players to the zone as they voluntarily spawned there with a val’kyr who raised them without their consent is totally a retcon.

In any case, clumsily shoehorning a lifetime alliance character like Calia into the starting zone would be yet another one of those sops to Alliance. Calia is not Forsaken and can never be.

Well its been like that since Cataclysm.

In the novel Before the Storm, many Forsaken were strictly against “replenishing” their numbers. I’m not sure if things’ll be different with Calia, but they all hate the curse and wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Like why raise more people to suffer?

Seems like the Forsaken are dying out literally, they’re a tragedy befallen upon the citizens of Lordaeron and don’t need to have their numbers replenished. Let them pass with dignity.

In a game sense though… Calia can raise new players or something. Or… they could “officially” stop raising the dead, but then one of those Forsaken on the council does it behind people’s back in a sort of hush hush situation.
