Forest Troll Race/Customization Megathread

They’re similar, but the confirmed dark troll still has a lighter color. Looks like you’re right but until Blizzard says anything we don’t know for certain.

Indeed although it’s a shame they didn’t get the AR treatment but I understand Blizzard wouldn’t rooster more than 3 playable Troll faction (because they seem to plan a batch of 5 like they did in bfa) and probably only the Drakkari or Amani would get the slot.

For that I hope the Zandalaris can push them to ally with the Horde once more with them getting parts of their land back legally, besides it’s not like the belves would need all Ghostlands with their dimished numbers in the recent conflict and the forsakens are gone too from the zone so the elves have few allies to back them in Ghostlands

We also can’t say sand trolls are joining, the Atal’ai priests also used a tan skincolor and they were jungle trolls. Also, Blizzard has essentially said it’s still all just Darkspear and there are no real lore implications with the customizations (to my dismay)

On the dark troll topic we really can’t be sure what is and isn’t a dark troll. Sure, there’s that NPC but she’s using an existing skintone. Dark Trolls have never been truly added in-game so we have no idea what they look like.

Ok, I have to ask what the hell you’ve done to your settings. Why is that so dark?

I’ve turned the contrast up and brightness down, I think it looks better.

Appearantly they do, that’s really weird. They’re the only non-sand trolls to use that skin then, yes? Them and maybe some mummies.

Do you know when? I’ve also heard Steve Danuser said that they should be regarded as trolls of tribes, I believe in a Mr. GM interview, but I haven’t seen it myself.

If we got more voice options and unique jokes for the skins it would be okay if it was customization, just wouldn’t make sense with old voices and jokes.

But more recently, having been added this xpac. Newer models have superseded and supplemented older ones as long as WoW has existed.

Well yeah but they have been used.

I just do not see a second troll AR being added for years and I’d rather focus on a realistic goal than holding my breath for something that is at best a long shot.

Also, these two statements run counter to each other.

Oh Geeze, I’d have to do some digging due to it being part of a large recent string of interviews involving Danuser

I’m not seeing how I was contradicting myself there. Care to elaborate? Might be cognitive bias on my part as I know what I meant and it might not have translated.

  • This thing isn’t common enough to make sense
  • This other thing is still unconfirmed because of this obscure group of trolls that appeared once in a classic dungeon

Either something has to be ‘common’ to matter or it doesn’t.

Extra body shape for males is not really that distant option, since forsaken model get modification, and the humans are gettingdiferent facial rigs.

So I think it would be an option to make Forst trolls as customization work, however game would still recognise them as Darkspears.

Those aren’t entirely new rigs, to be fair.

I’d like to see the frost troll in the same optin. I think they share similar body feature too

I think there’s a distinction between an actual group/tribe that used the skintone and individual NPCs that are more outliers amongst the general body of NPCs for their groups, but I see what you mean and that even then it might be seen as kind of arbitrary. Also the fact is that the Atal’ai are jungle trolls (playable) and Forest trolls are…not. I hope they’re sand trolls, of course, and I hope it has lore implications of more trolls joining the Horde, but Blizzard can and does muddy the waters of its races quite often especially when it comes to trolls.

I think both should be separate AR’s.

Frost and Forest would have modified racials and of course use the bigger body.

Troll are elfs. before Elf. So More elfs in the game. But i’d like if they added Normal troll pose and super Muscular Forest/Frost troll shape to the guy. And fat blood troll body shape to the girl

I know I’m being pedantic here, but I wonder how the more obscure alternate name for ice trolls, frost trolls, is the one that I see most people use.

Say syke right now.

Not sure I understand. Might be cause I only slept 2h might not. we’ll never know

I’m saying they’re official and most commonly (in lore) name for them is Ice Trolls but most people call them frost trolls. I mean they’ve been called frost trolls in game once or twice but yet I see people say frost troll more than ice troll and I can’t help but wonder how that happened. Ofcourse, not everybody is as much as an extreme pedant as I am.

I’ve always called them Frost Trolls since WCIII… Not sure why.

I tough there was both type in the game for some reason. I guess WC3
