Forced to give employees poor reviews due to quotas

Can you guys not be awful for five minutes? It’s not hard.

This is standard procedure in most companies. You are not allowed to say all are outstanding.

I don’t agree with this.

Plus knew a guy that was laid off because he was getting the lowest ranking on his team. But who knows, maybe the entire team pulled their weight.

It is not fair.

But what if they are all equally outstanding?

On a separate note, after reading his posts, did anyone else get flashbacks of the dude from Office Space screaming “I’m a people person” while he’s being grilled by those two Bobs in the conference room?

If I ever get pulled over for speeding I’m definitely going to tell the cop most people speed. That’ll for sure get me off the hook for speeding.

It’s standard at my company, but doesn’t mean it’s right. We cannot give out the highest reviews, but as far as the lowest ones there’s generally a few who fail hard enough that it covers it, and they’re slated for replacement regardless. The highest reviews are for the CEO’s pets.

It does mean we have serious systemic issues though.

must often end up with 2 ppl that perform exactly the same but boss gives the minus to the one that looks uglier or whatever other silly point

maybe even the one that has the least chances of sleeping with them :stuck_out_tongue:

What does breaking the law have to do with this? Go start your own business and rate people however you want. No one is stopping you.

I cannot imagine liking the taste of boot this much.

I don’t. That’s why I started my own business several years ago. No one is stopping you.

Performance distribution metrics are too rigid and usually inappropriate. Sometimes, you get a lot of people who do very well. Sometimes, nobody does well. I’m not going to give only 3 A’s when 10 people deserve an A. I’m also not going to pass everyone when some people literally didn’t show up the whole semester or take a single test. It’s just silly.

nothing more cringe than people obsessing over the actual company looking for stuff to get mad about. just play the games

I used that excuse before. Not with the cop, but with the judge. I went to see the judge, and said exactly what happened. I said i was simply going with the flow of traffic which happened to be 10 miles over. I said i will be happy to pay the fine, but since i was going the standard speed and not being dangerous by going so slow, as to cause other drivers to change lanes, I kindly asked that he eliminate the points from my ticket. and he did. It did not go to my insurance which is what i was worried about. Not sure if that is even possible any more, but at that time it was.
