Rerolled to prot paladin and gotta say, whoever designed tanks back in the day should be re-fired. The brain dead toolkit on prot paladin is ridiculous.
Buff prot warrior:
1 min enraged regeneration.
15 second CD on Victory Rush usable in rotation and heals for %, and increase block %.
30 second CD on heroic throw.
Also I think they should add the same passive of cheat death as pally have to all tanks.
Warriors: “Too angry to die” if you’re above 40-50 rage and you receive a lethal blow you’ll be brought back to life with 10% hp and 50% increased block chance for 10 secs.
Druids: “Cenarion’s blessing” if you’re above 40-50 rage and you receive a lethal blow you’ll be brought back to life with 20% hp and can’t benefit from self healing for 20 secs.
Dks: “Death’s embrace” if you receive a lethal blow your soul will be held in the mortal realm for 10 secs to be able to be healed up at least until 60% of your total health.
Hey man you ever go against a prot warrior in PvP compared to a prot pally? I shiver in place and my knees buckle when I see a prot warrior compared to a prot pally
Its almost like paladins make up 75% of tanks and 50% of heals being played.
Thankfully they gave ret a 25% dps buff to make them a top tier DPS class now too… Super healthy for the game already loaded with Classic+++++++ changes, and rampant RMT and gold buying.
Just add it to the list of excellent decisions being made.
I know but my point was giving an equal treatment to all tanks, perhaps instead of a cheat death talent, dks should be buffed up a little more in mitigation or even self healing like other expansions did.
Or, make none of them have it. A tank having a built in mistake mulligan that doesn’t require any input from the tank themselves isn’t great design when all of the tanks are otherwise in similar ballparks of survivability/threat.
Why pick the other decent options when one comes with the ability to make mistakes every 2 mins?
Make that part of the active divine guardian cooldown instead of a passive cheat death and you’d likely see prot pallys even out a good deal with the other options outside of the fights you stack divine sacrifice.
That’s fine by me tbh, Argent defender is really boring and yeah, is either wasted cuz you die anyway or is a really big mistake catcher. I’d much rather have another small active damage reduction over Argent defender
That’s one take away you can get from my post I guess. Prot pally doesn’t need buffs but argent defender is either useless or a free pass on mistakes, not really compelling gameplay.
It’s one of those role defining mechanics that really should be given to other tanks (same way taunt became role defining and was added to the Pally toolkit).
Or bad RNG. I think it’s a pretty definitive ability on HMs.
Pally tanks are actually pretty balanced generally - their only problem is that they have a very well rounded defensive toolkit. That’s not really a problem though … that is really a deficiency in the other Tanks.
I feel like the Warrior Tanks feels pretty old in tanking by comparison. They excel in mobility and damage but have significant gaps in the defensive kit. I can’t speak to Druids of DKs but I suspect Druids are similarly lacking in terms of raid saving defensive cooldowns.
There’s something to be said for having Tanking niches though. But that falls down a bit when one of the Tanks is very well rounded across all niches.
