I watch this guy on YouTube. Baumgartner Restoration, almost guaranteed to make you sleepy. He restores art and takes you through the process. He has a calm quiet voice.
The Joy of Painting reruns are soothing too. Bob Ross painting is the OG ASMR.
I use that occasionally when all I need is a quick nap as it only puts me down for an hour.
Doing some physical work will make me sleep like a baby.
If I can’t sleep, I am just not tired.

Less wine, more decaf tea.
Melatonin pill
sleepy time tea. something with valerian root
I have a glass of milk and then I read a novel until I’m too tired to read. Usually takes me about an hour or so.
Usually about half an hour of wild monkey-sex with the girlfriend will do it
Anybody who says they sleep like a baby has never had a baby.
“You look terrible, what happened?”
“I slept like a baby last night. I screamed until three in the morning then wet myself!”
I have raised 4 daughters, I know this.
At my age I am the one who has nights like that now.

CBN can help with sleep. It’s old material that’s lost it’s potency and developed CBN. CBN puts you to sleep rather quickly and does not get you high. There is very little psychoactivity in it. It would be like taking a sip of wine in effect, but your sleeping anyway.
If you’re in a state where it’s is legal, check out CBN.
It really depends on why I’m not falling asleep. But the first thing and most important is to develop a routine and to cut off caffeine after 5-6 pm. Give yourself at least 45 minutes to wind down, decreasing the amount of time you’re looking at electronics, etc. If it helps you try playing something soothing like nature sounds, classical music, or lo-fi beats made for sleep. And sure melatonin can be a great natural aid for those who need it to. Then when it’s your set bed time focus only on clearing your mind and going to sleep.
Now for those nights where maybe you’re just super stressed or having racing thoughts? Mindfulness is key and that means distracting your mind of the intrusions. I find its best to find a podcast or video on YouTube that talks about something you’re into but that’s not super hyped up. Perhaps a history podcast, or sometimes reading you a story. Don’t be fooled by apps that want to charge you money for this, there are Plenty of podcasts and YouTube channels that do this for free. But in the end they distract you enough to clear your mind and let you fall asleep.
Hope these tips from a fellow insomniac help.
