For those against sharding at launch

You clearly didn’t finish reading

How do you know the number of people during AQ will be less than the number of of people in a starting zone?

So you’d be ok with shaking up the community to merge a few servers?
So the argument isn’t about community, it’s about sharding in and of itself?

Yeah no thanks. Classic WoW is a community driven game. Asking the community to give up their guilds and names because you can’t handle sharding in starting zones?

Really? Now you are just reaching.

I’d be fine with dead realms. I just don’t have anything against really dead realms being merged with others

You seem to be under the impression that everyone is going to move at the same pace. Doing the same thing

Classic WoW is a community driven game and yet you want sharding

Temporarily in a zone where community can still thrive.

If no one can play or there isn’t anyone on your server then there isn’t much of a community either.

Starting zones, for a few weeks after launch. That’s what Blizz has told us to expect – specifically to soak up the tourists

I have no reason to believe it’s temporary when Classic WoW has plenty of other areas of influx in players

Play BFA, plenty of insanity there.

But not as much as launch day starting zones

If you’re so untrustworthy of blizzard then why are you even playing their games?
And in other areas of influx, they’re not going to be as flooded as the starting zones on the early days. Even AQ won’t be so bad because the tourists will be gone and the lowbies won’t all be there.

I would bet that’s going to happen, even with sharding.

I just can’t believe some of you jerks would rather I end up on a dead realm than you deal with sharding in start zones for a short period of time. That’s an awful thing to wish on a fellow player.

Yes, it is. Dead realms were part of the authentic experience of WoW in 2006. And the authentic experience of WoW in 2006 is exactly the goal of this project, according to Ion’s statement at Blizzcon 2018.

This project is NOT about original WoW - now with sharding!

The goal of this project is to recreate the authentic experience of WoW from 2006.

First and foremost, really, is authenticity as our goal. We want to create an experience that feels just like 2006 World of Warcraft. Ion Hazzikostas - Blizzcon 2018 (~29:00).

Sharding is NOT authentic to original WoW.

I don’t want modern conveniences like sharding or right-click reporting in Classic WoW because they were not part of original WoW in 2006.

If you want sharding, then go play current WoW.

Because I used to love Blizzard games? I want Classic to do well but I don’t know if it will. Advocate wanting Legacy servers for years and we finally get them. The entire point of Classic is to get away from the garbage of retail but people are trying to bring retail elements to classic
