For newbies: what multiboxing is

What is it?

Multiboxing is playing several game characters at the same time. You run several WoW clients on the same computer and duplicate keyboard and mouse to all these clients.

Why people do it?

For fun and profit.

What is fun?

You become a team lead - it’s nice to feel like a boss.

You can do hard things alone - kill elites, finish group quests, run instances.

You can level quickly and joyfully (especially in Classic WoW where mobs are hard).

You can revenge your PvP foes.

What is profit?

You can gather resources x2, x5, or even x8 at the same time.

You can farm gold x2…x8 as well.

Is multiboxing legal?

Sure. See https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/24258.

Does it need another account?

No. You can use your existing Blizzard account. However, you will need to add one more WoW subscription.

Is multiboxing difficult?

No. You need to bind 1 key, make 2 macros, assign identical keybindings for damage/mounting/drinking, and install any keyboard broadcaster.

Is multiboxing free?

Yes. At least you can try it for free. WoW is free until 20 lvl, as well as some simple broadcasters.

How to try?

Multiboxing is gaining unfair advantage over other players because you pay more.

Wanna far 10 times more gold? Say no more.

Nothing unfair about it

Nice try Blizzard but posting this on an alternate account wont convince me to add more WoW licenses to my account. I am fine with one character thank you very much!

Do the other team members talk to you about your leadership style? Are they allowed to give you honest feedback? :smirk:

If they do it probably means you should see a doctor.

Which you can do by being socially interactive in the game with other real people.

Which is one of the primary reasons so many people dislike multiboxing. Right or not, many see it as gaining an advantage over others by purely financial means. You must have multiple accounts to do it, which requires payment either by real life money (that they may not have) or the use of gold earned by such methods (which again they cannot get in the same timely fashion).

It is quite possible, oh theoretical new person, to earn gold all by yourself without the need to use multiple accounts. While it may not be at the same volume, it is done on the same level as the majority of players in the game.

Now, New Person, I admit I don’t care for mboxing however I admit that it is permitted by WoW as long as it not botting (an entirely separate norty thing to do). And I don’t curse and rail at people who do it. However, other games do not permit it, and they manage just fine. My personal thinking is that WoW would be a lot better off without it

You forgot to mention it helps in the destroying of the economy for the average player to engage in and is generally degenerate gameplay.

Yeah because WoD garrisons and tokens have had 0 effect on the economy, only multiboxxers lmao.

I read in an Australian accent in my mind and it made me chuckle.

Never said that was the only problem. Also multiboxxing has been a scourge since before the scourge was an issue.

It’s not destroying anything. If it was Blizzard wouldn’t be so lax about it.

I would be pretty lax too if I was making that much money off one player

I was fine too for more than 6 years. Now I want something new in WoW, and multiboxing gives it.

For $20 I can gain (currently) 132k. For $15 I could gain a pocket buddy for a month.

Both are more than the person that only pays for their base sub. How is one unfair and the other isn’t?

Regardless of our opinions or bias. The rules say it’s allowed, we all have the same access to it, and that makes it fair. If someone chooses to not use a resource, available to them, it that does not make that resource unfair.

Yeah because they corporate suits care about the extra 60$ dollars, which is less than 0.1% of what the company makes.

Yeah they totally care about that.

All I gotta say is, screw pinterest for always being the top google result and stuffing up my gifs :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Multiboxing is technically legal per Bliz’s rules.

However it is in my opinion cheating, and always will be. Glorified pay to win in every sense of the word.
