Follower Dungeons

I jumped on the game last night for some level 20 dungeon play (I’m unsubscribed playing on starter mode), and I saw an option for Follower Dungeons. What’s that all about? Looks like something with using NPCs as your party-mates instead of randos? But I didn’t seem to be able to queue into it. Is it unavailable on F2P mode?

No, it starts at level 60 I believe.

Yeah right now it’s only for normal difficulty Dragonflight dungeons. It will likely be expanded in the future but nothing concrete has been mentioned yet.

Thanks. Hopefully it becomes available in F2P mode. I pretty much exclusively play tank classes which has the bonus side effect of very short dungeon queue times (although I think I waited over 4 minutes for a Lich King dungeon last night - ugh). But if this new system become available, I might try some DPS classes again. So, how are you guys liking the new Follower Dungeon experience?

I really want to dive into it, but unfortunately I haven’t had time to try it out yet. There are some mixed reviews in GD about it. Some love it, some find it tedious.

You can also have the AI take the lead in the dungeon if you don’t know it, which I thought was a pretty cool feature.

Just to add, you also need item level 180 to start up a follower dungeon (easily obtained after doing a few quests).

I personally love the follower dungeons, they allow me to practice different specs as well as knock out any dungeon quests I might have with relative ease.

It’s a good tool. Might need a bit of tweaking, but I haven’t had any issues. They will go as fast or as slow as you want. I’ve started pulling extra trash packs, and the tank/heals adjust accordingly. There’s no real downtime, as the tank goes as soon as everyone is healed. Easy to stop the tank by taking control while you get situated.

Where it works best is completing those nagging dungeon quests clogging up the quest log. Easy to pop into one without a queue and go. Haven’t tried it while leveling a toon, but I’ve heard people say leveling is pretty fast doing follower dungeons.

I’m not sure if this will happen, but it definitely could. The “F2P” part is generally considered to be a trial, giving you a taste of the game to decide if you want to subscribe. It’s not really for giving players the full experience.

I understand. But as they do give access to the Dungeon Finder, I’m optimistic that this feature would be made available as well. Here’s hoping!!!

Indeed. Thinking about it further, it actually could be something that gets those “trial players” a taste of what a five-man dungeon is like. I suppose they already did it with Exile’s Reach, but it could definitely be a good addition at lower levels.

Right now it’s only for Dragonflight dungeons, at level 60 or higher. But this is just the very first iteration of it, and it’s very possible the system could be expanded in the future. Here’s hoping.

Pretty decent. It turns WoW into a single-player game in some respect.

You don’t need to think about other people, and are able to move at your own pace, and that context completely changes the dungeon from, I think, an exciting affair to something much more relaxing.

It seems like a great way to learn encounters as well, as it’s a much more interactive experience than reading the journal or watching a video.
