I hope you feel better soon, I’ve finished my wine and watched an irresponsible number of episodes of anime so it’s off to bed.
Hopefully this thread will have died tomorrow after people see sense but perhaps that’s wishful thinking.

yep - server limits , they still exist . better to try and limit at first and adjust either up ( or down ) they to start open slather
Tbf, now that you’ve mentioned it, there is (or was) an instance limit too.
So that might as well be the reason.
Thank you for the reply, i appreciate it.
The only thing that changed was the XP nerf. It’s still an alternative to running dungeons with other players— so that you can see the storyline, get some practice in and do your quests.
That’s what story modes are. That’s what this is. It’s never been said to be something different. This is what people originally asked for. It wasn’t until recently that people started trying to twist it into something it’s not.
I’m not seeing a lot of that here. But one can only hope. LOL Sleep well!
What did you want out of this that you’re not getting with how it’s been implemented? Were you really planning to spend 4+ hours a day running these things?
never seen it marketed that way . what I read was them saying that if you are short on a full party you could still do normals with AI taking teh place of your missing team members .
Some solo plays interprited it as you said , but bliz didnt market as such . That I saw anyway
I understand, I just think we would all be served by understanding that others viewed these as possible ways to enjoy dungeon-based gameplay without their perceived headache of frustrating tanks/dps/healers. There are game modes that become emergent beyond the intent of the developers.
I do think it’s reactionary, and I think it’s important to let the devs to their thing - not every feature needs to be liked - but the timing of this seems odd. Why not gate it to this limit during the PTR?
For what it’s worth, I have little intention of this game play mode. I just see folks being frustrated and consider that if there was no limit it won’t mean much to my gameplay, so why not give 'em options, like we did for classic flying vs dragonriding. Bots? Well, if there’s little to nothing to gain from those dungeons, will those bots be more disruptive than those already in the OW? possibly, if they get a juicy BOE for mogs.
Because PTR has so few players compared to live. Better to roll out with a limit than to break the hamsters.
I expected to have what time I did spend to be respected. I’m going to judge the live server xp rate for myself, but I’ll be extremely disappointed if this comes across as “not intended for leveling.”
3 dungeons per level (while rested) in the 10 level bracket of one expansion felt reasonable. I need to see what we get on live servers for myself but the prospect of losing this potential leveling track is so depressing.
It makes sense to roll it out limited, and that’s what they’re saying they will be doing, so I think we need to wait and see what happens downstream.
I was more asking the hypothetical if this was something they’d extend beyond launch in the event that the demand for this kind of content outstrips their infrastructure.
I think it’s reasonable to suppose that even without botting (which is a consideration), these are going to be popular especially at the outset and Blizzard has done the math on what the servers can actually dish out within a 24 hour period. Once players all get a chance to test it out and an actual baseline of player usage can be established, they’ll know how much hardware they need to support it and can scale accordingly.
This is not going to impact anyone but so many people here are crying about it for no reason.
It’s really amazing to see that you guys will make issues out of everything.
A dev (I won’t say who) already replied to me on Twitter that this limit will be lifted when it’s “safe” to do so. Since this feature is new and not been on this game so yeah it acts as a precaution. I don’t count exiles reach dungeon because that version might not be the same as followers dungeons.
I’d doubt it. But who knows. I don’t see why the entire game needs to be turned into solo content. Last I checked, people aren’t quitting en masse because they can’t solo M+ or raids.
I think people just have the wrong expectations.
Now… what I do want to see with this tech expanded is actual tutorials. Teach people how to interrupt, CC, focus certain mobs, etc. Don’t just toss them in and let them think they can do whatever because NPCs might save them and then they go out into group content with the same mindset.
I dont think the entire game is going solo content, but heck yea, I agree with you on improved tutorials. That would be amazing. In the latest GW2 expansion, they added an area where players can finally (almost 10 years later) play with target dummies/combat npc’s to learn how to create combo fields and then use those correctly.
You has link? People around here tend to be extremely skeptical until they see the source.
Also: it’s what some expected, so thanks for poking around for answers.
Hope you all get better soon
So on the question of bots etc, I thought Id do a run now on my level 63 al to see wht I got.
In one Follower dungeon I got a Drake manuscript, a 276 blue hat, some gold, 15 Rousings and some cloth. Not sure how long it took, typical dungeon length.
I guess if a bot was able to do that sort of runs on many alts during the 24 hours of the day, they could earn a decent income on raw gold and the Rousings. How that would compare with just farming Im not sure.
But if botting is their concern, I can see how it might be an issue if it were left as standard, or or at least with more than 10 per account per day. Also, the experience gains seemed fairly minimal, I wasnt getting much more than 80 exp per mob kill. When you consider doing things like farming mats you can earn over a thousand exp per node, that seems a very slow way to boost up a character.
PS, went back and checked, total experience for the run was 5,070. So thats pretty low numbers if they are keeping them that way live.
There’s no reason they couldn’t have a DR on loot, so players could continue to practice while bots would end up with nothing past those first 10 runs.
Welcome back!
I think this will just end up being an expansion feature. They will throttle it back to give the target audience an “incentive” to go full esports. Which will of course fail, because the people who want to do this have zero interest in hypercompetitive play.
