Probably treat them the same as I treat the Trust system in XIV. Do it once for new dungeon and then go in with other players. Really it’s just a way for me to learn the lay out and boss patterns without being a detriment to others.
no but I can attempt to use them to help me learn to tank instead of hearing pull more or you not fast enough while I am still learning
I mean. I think the only time I would ever use follower dungeons personally is if
a) They introduce some kind of reward for specifically doing them.
or, more likely
b) Those end of zone quests that end in a dungeon, this would be a good alternative to queueing up for that one specific dungeon.
Other than that, it will pretty much always be faster to run normal mode dungeons with other players.
Why do people run normals at max level now?
OK, so you will just do each dungeon once or twice with followers to learn the layout and mechanics.
So, again, you will use each just a few times,
These reasons and use cases are, as Kaznarok stated above, enough to call a win, but IMO not enough to justify expanding the feature to other dungeons, other difficulties, or other modes. It’s also not clear to me that the win would justify to Blizzard the work the devs had to do to create them.
I imagine not many people do run Normals at 70 now.
But where is the payoff for Blizzard for developing the Follower feature, if they are barely used, and not at all after the first three weeks?
(Having said that. Blizzard seems to have resolved to develop features all through DF that go stale faster than a loaf of bread, so maybe this is just a continuation of that policy. )
I am sure I’ll get plenty of use since i can always improve or learn different classes. I will find good use, I may not use everyday but it will be used very often. if we go ack to actually helping each other then we would have no need for them and actually being polite to each other
People asked for specifically what follower dungeons provide; an option to dungeons alone or in groups less than 5 where they could experience the dungeon without rushing or risk of toxicity from others.
If they wanted something else, the ask needed to be more specific. On the upside, delves sound like they’ll meet those needs for a lot of people.
This is also the first iteration of followers, nothing says they won’t adjust them or expand the system going forward, so people could probably chill a bit. Give reasonable feedback once it’s live and see how blizz responds.
Don’t use it?
THE HORROR… So you stopped going outside and you even refuse to go outside inside WoW now?
There is nothing stopping you from leveling by yourself and ignoring everyone while leveling in the open world in case you haven’t noticed.
Trying to present socializing or any kind of group content in a freaking MMO as bad is madness in itself but part of the WoW community has taken it to a whole new level.
It is entirely possible to reach 70 and not be able to queue for heroics due to ilvl AND not be able to buy your way into enough gear to hit the minimum.
Timing or if you are literally a new player with no alts to build some sort of starting scratch money.
Also if you’re not going to go buy a token.
It’s definitely possible, and followers still give a chance at gear iirc? (Maybe I’m wrong there)
Yes, but that’s not the angle of complaints going on…it’s the removal of XP which kills them for leveling and, to some extent, the 10 instances limit.
The XP irrelevant to the question of why do people run normals at max, where these will still have replayability for folks who just want to dungeon alone or in small groups.
The limit, with the little info provided, sounds temporary and is most likely a “lets see how bad this loads the system” precaution more than anything.
I plan to do only follower dungeons and never again have to deal with the ridicules go go go mentality.
But you have to wait significantly longer. While Followers are instant queues. Meaning you can run more of them.
I see people flocking more to Followers if the XP is the same, because the paltry amount of gold is irrelevant and the queue times for dps are long already.
Sure, there won’t be end of dungeon XP, but I don’t know if that’s enough to keep people in queue given the other advantages. But maybe I’m wrong.
Just join a group. Good lord it’s not that big of a deal.
Yeah I think for leveling that’s fine I guess.
Thats blizzard for you. Always half delivery and never good enough. Couldnt even do a merc system properly.
The only reason I will come back to this game will be AI dungeons. They need to move it up through mythic.
But this is an MMO, go play a solo game
There is nothing about an MMO that requires everybody to always participate in the same party with each other to do content. For instance, I can solo quest all day if I want. There’s no reason not to bring that to dungeons. Simply just participating in the economy is enough to satisfy “MMO”.
Participating with other people directly would be more viable if the community wasn’t absolutely toxic. And of course it should always be an option. But not a mandate.
I’ll be checking out these AI dungeons and I’m very excited for the future of them. But if it just stays normal dungeons then it’s not enough to bring me back to the game.
