This is why I pre-warn the group before we even start the key that I’ll need help on my totem. If they don’t like it, kick me before the key starts. I had an 18 everbloom last night not get timed because they groups though process was, hey we have an Aug! Sweet, pull huge mobs to overwhelm the healer, the aug can pick up the pieces, and then they began to cry because I wasnt keeping Ebon might up. Sorry, you can’t have it all folks.
I mean aug is the top M+ spec right now, its pretty much insta invites for me.
I believe all tanks get some form of mitigation from main stat. either higher block/parry from STR, or more dodge from AGI, or something similar… I could be wrong, though.
Oh I think druid/dh/pally get more armor from it at least, true.
Had a tank leave after first boss in a 14 key(my key), blaming me for low DPS on my Aug. Can’t reason w/ ignorant people. No deaths, everything going smooth. Also, was farming a low key (Darkheart) for neck and ring. Got into an argument w/ the tank and dps after. about my dps and being carried…timed it perfectly no deaths. You just can’t reason w/ some folks
Funny enough our bis crafted wrists I believe give us a brez it’s just not super dependable because engineering.
As for the “bad DPS” pug screechers I only saw a few at the start of Aug but not come up on that in weeks. I have just been removed without a word once since patch but chalk it up to they got a higher DPS in Q.

Aug + 2 Havoc = Disgusting. Keys just melt.

While Aug can definitely pump up a group and what you said is true about people being ignorant about Aug, there’s a reverse side too. If 1 or both of the other dps die for whatever reason then the Aug Evoker is pretty useless. You’re essentially buffing nothing, so now Aug is just a deflated balloon.
I think in pugs, the viewpoint above matters more because you can only control the quality of players so much. At least with a third dps you have more room for error/are hedging your bets.
Imo, Aug should’ve just been a tank spec. I would be tanking right now if that was the case and more classes should be able to tank so we can reduce q times and get more PvE content filled quickly.

So you want to have tons of utilities , able to buff the group’s damage, provide buff the the tank a healer at the same time being half a healer and now you want more damage.
Mind as well delete all other dps spec and call world of Aug evokers now.
