Folks leaving when they see your are Aug?

Any of you experiencing this mess? I’ve had multiple keys where I’ve been invited to the group, then boom, kicked for being Aug. I’ve asked many of them why, and they have some BS explanation, never anything that makes sense. I’m guessing they are ignorant to what Aug Evokers do, rather than to just mindlessly pump dps and go go go. On the flip side I’ve had groups reach out to me about running key’s I’m not yet comfortable running because they know what a decently played Aug can do for a well oiled group. In all my years of playing WoW I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a thing.

I’m chalking this up to 1. Players had bad interactions previously, or 2. They are ignorant to what the class brings to the table.

Shrug.

Logs are borked right now. People think aug is bad.

Must be, because I’ve had a ton of people absolutely love the buffs, mostly Rogues, DH, and Kitties, go figure. And the fact that we can help off heal, kick, remove nasty buffs and such, it’s a no brainer, but I do wish we had a touch more pure DPS output. I have to turn my meters off, otherwise I find myself getting nervous.

I think we can chalk this up to people being ignorant of how Augmentation works, although I thought they said most DPS Meters were taking into account rDPS from Aug Buffs and adding it?

I’m not real sure on the situation with the meters, all I care about is my uptime during major fights and making sure all CD’s are accounted for and ready to go. I’ve had several people ask during the middle of a key why my dps is so low so they clearly don’t understand what Aug is for or what we do and that meters do not reflect our true output currently.

At this point just make a macro with a short helpful explanation that you are a support class, and you are buffing everyone else’s DPS.

It’s annoying but remember this is WoW’s first time having a spec like this.

It’s going to take some time for people to understand.

I have to be frank, we needed a true support class and I’m really enjoying it. I like doing a bit of everything and bringing major utility to the table. Hopefully folks educate themselves on what Aug is and does, there’s a reason why some of the best M+ teams out there have an Aug in there groups.

Tbh, with the nerfs I think it’s a bit troublesome for Augs at lower level keys. It might even be worse in full PUG environments since the key owner is usually a dead weight (so that’s a -1 on Aug who depends on them).

Most of these groups are not Progression-minded groups, but people looking for carries. So a DH ends up being considerably better than an Aug, since the DH will carry you, while the Aug will depend on you.

I’d say the benefits of essentially having an extra half a healer more than make up for any shortcomings on the DPS-side. Most low-key groups don’t fail the timer because they can’t pull enough damage, but rather because they have to play it safe or die, and Augs would let them make bigger pulls and also help them not die, while still doing enough DPS.

Lower keys were not too much of an issue, this is happening at 15+ keys where I expect that players are more knowledgeable about their classes, other classes and how we interact with one another. Being a half healer has helped tremendously, I can overlap my heals and it normally makes for a nice security blanket. I can agree 100% that a lot of players are looking to get carried in some of these higher keys. It’s very evident once the key starts. I’ve felt fortunate to pug to nearly 2100 so far, 2500+ and I think it’s guild time.

it could be specific dungeons at higher levels? Tree boss in Waycrestcan be quite difficult if players can’t break roots and are relying on the aug to help DPS them out. Totem boss in Dazar’Alor can also be a pain if players aren’t willing/able to help the aug with their totem.

I haven’t had too much issue getting into pugs, but i’ve done less than 10 keys outside of organized guild stuff, so i don’t exactly have a large sample size.

Happened once total of this patch. I just shrugged. They can mouse over and read your spec…
The other time the lead invited me then another Aug and started the run I had to zoom out and swap to devo otherwise that would have been a long run xD

Oh yeah my sin rogue guildie loves me in groups and sounded so flabbergasted as to why he’s not been running with augmentation evokers lol

I got another fan

It’s the people. I’ve had plenty of players when I was running Aug call me a stupid dragon. I would just keep moving on and ignore those who give you hate.

I cannot recall the exact dungeons, but one for certain last night was a Waycrest key. I need that damned trinket, and it consisted of a DK tank and BM hunter, then I was invited, sat for about 20 seconds and got the boot. DK said his “buddy” said no Aug’s, Aug’s are bad. So that was a clear case of ignorance most likely on their part. But the others instances I cannot remember.

Idk why people use that reasoning for bringing Aug when dev can offheal, kick and cleanse exactly the same. Lol.

I’ve been trying to reason what I bring as Aug. Even if the overall DPS was the same as being non Aug (which I’m pretty sure it isn’t anymore). The only truly unique things it can bring are:

Shield from breath.
Tank armor
Healer range increase?
Slightly more AOE cc
Weyrnstone?
AOE heal spam if you specced it

Otherwise what else does Aug actually uniquely bring that’s influential over dev? The 3 main things to me are just tank armor, AOE stun, breath shield

To add on to this:

  • Ebon Might buffs tank and healer main stats, meaning bigger heals and bulkier (and somewhat DPS-ier) tanks.
  • Black Attunement gives everyone a bit more HP, so a bit more survivability.
  • Ebon Scales becoming a group CD over a personal, so also a bit more survivability.

I don’t know if what we contribute DPS-wise is similar to having another pure DPS, but we do offer a fair amount in terms of survivability. At the average player’s key level, it’s probably not super important, though, and I can understand wanting “a regular DPS” instead of an aug, if you wan to be certain that everyone is pulling their weight.

I don’t really run logs myself, so I never have a good idea of how much I contribute. Sometimes I feel extremely useful, other times i feel like i might be a boat anchor on the group… but that usually depends on how others are performing as well (which makes sense given the nature of the class).

Ebon might is essentially a primary stat trinket. So everyone’s main stat goes up by (in my case) around 850 for up to 30-40 seconds at a time. Prescience gives 3% crit and often replicates an attack (doing 15% of the attack)

I see my other dps go from 85k on Average to 130-140k before they pop cooldowns.

I buff the team for 1600+ stats… it’s a noticeable difference watching a DH finish with 300k vs their normal 180-200k.

For Pugging it’s also super easy to spec into blossom extending your ebon might and support with aoe heals during affix like bursting or shades when people dont move quick enough after a pack dies. Getting through the dungeon with minimal deaths is key. I’ve been using this alot to support not super great healers since the dps is already getting super buffed by prescience and ebon might.

You do damage through your teammates. I’ve never had to explain this though. If you aren’t making the dungeon feel a lot easier you aren’t playing the class right. Aug is extremely versatile and there’s really a lot you can do to help depending on the situation.

You’ve basically explain Aug play-style perfectly. However, just last night, I joined a key and they decided to start screeching about my DPS, that’s all they could think about. Screeching about me getting carried and so on, but failing to see their own DPS substantially higher than it normally is and filling the gaps where the healer was a bit off to make the run smoother. These folks honestly think an Aug Evoker should be cranking out the same DPS as a dedicated DPS role would. These folks just do not understand what a support role is and only want to focus on that damned meter.
