Folding Idea's "Why It's Rude to Suck at Warcraft" Video

It’s bad enough to read people whining and complaining - last thing I need is hearing and seeing them whine and complain.

How about a summary?

“There are two types of players, those who play to win, and those who don’t.”

“Players who play to win play to win.”

How profound.

Yes. You can’t summarize a single point from a 90 minute video? LMAO

I mean, he very clearly made a point about how people game.

Does someone have to make a point about the game needing to change for them to have a point?

Maybe there is some missing subtext that makes this make sense. Saying “players who play to win play to win, and therefore when I was an %%%%%%% it was justified”. That might sense of the lack of an actual point.

This is why summaries don’t work. That summary is from someone who didn’t grasp the concepts. And now you’re walking around with opinions of a video you didn’t watch because Bevis gave you the wrong cliffnotes.

Oh man warcraft is totally pseudo as for intellectual- garbage you said it not me.

I watched about a quarter of it before deciding not to waste more of my time. I agree its full of garbage.

How do you know it’s full of garbage? You only watched 25%

few details I remember from the video for those who did not watch:

  • Normal and Heroic raids has a really high completion percentage. In other words, a full clear was far and away the most common outcome for normal and heroic attempts. It was a remarkably high percentage.

  • Addons provide data to illustrate the cost of roleplaying from the raider that refused to wear shoes. Data makes it impersonal and more acceptable? fair?

  • Classic disproves the theory of server community. Sharing a server did not improve the social experience. Turns out players still treated each other poorly because there exists a distinction between internet and real that determines level of care.

I am not going to watch it.

See you later

I thought it was really interesting. It was interesting to see some of the roleplayers that I have seen around in it from the Tournament of Ages footage!

I gennnnnnerally agree that the arms race of addons versus complicated, coordinated mechanics is pretty dire, and creates a barrier to the average person. On the other hand, I would be really sad if things like Total Roleplay 3 and Cross RP went away.

Been meaning to watch it, but from the summary and discussion provided in this thread, it seems to me that the video is more of a documentary? If that’s the case, then it wouldn’t really have a “point”, it would be a video used to describe what is happening and why, and how it seems to separate things.

I’ll reply again after watching.

Made me realize the game I liked in BC and Wrath is long gone, and there’s not much point in looking for it anymore.

Never thought of that *ponder. Whale existence has no meaning I suppose. And observed reality, nah don’t bother with it. Pointless.

That’s why the video is great. It has no agenda other than telling you how things are with facts and testimony. A must watch for everyone.

noticed it on my recommend list, but also saw its length and passed on watching

Addons aren’t even necessary, though. The last boss I can think of that I can’t imagine doing without addons was Mythic Queen Azshara.

Watch the video. Youre arguing with an alleged summary
